I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Would not surprise me if he got picked up somewhere in the Big East. It is clear he wants to go to a high major or else  he would be using his last year of eligibility at FGCU.

I really like the kid, and unfortunately we don't have an opening.

He could bring a lot of value as a one year rental to a school like Xavier . They have a funny roster next year. 4 key guys returning and then a 5 man freshman class. Haanif would be an ideal stop gap to allow them to work the freshman in over time. If Haanif is your fifth guy you will have a pretty good team.

Can he go big east after playing here?

No. We went through this two years ago when Elijah Brown (former Butler player who transferred to New Mexico) grad transferred. Scoop wanted him but the rules say nay

Is that a Big East rule?  Or was it a Butler specific rule? Does it still apply to grad transfer? I have not red recent regs.

When Cameron Johnson grad transferred from Pitt to UNC,there was some controversy around that one but he ultimately prevailed . NCAA made some accomodations:

Big East Rule. IIRC, any player who has signed an LOI to a Big East institution is ineligible to obtain a scholarship at any other Big East institution. He could theoretically grad transfer to a Big East school and walk on. I believe the ACC rule is phrased differently and allows for the former university to grant an exemption. Don't believe that's an option in the Big East.

Not sure if Haanif could come back. I would assume that would be an exception to the rule.

Do we have spots left for next year? I'm holding out hope for Nico Mannion, as once Miller is fired he'll be free to shop around.  But I'd love to get HC back

Assuming no defections,  we will have 1 scholarship available next season

If I'm reading this correctly, he would be eligible to return to MU as he signed with them originally.

The Sultan

Haanif Cheatham has played 10 games of basketball since December 2017.  Only one of those was against a high major school, and he fared pretty poorly.  Someone may take a chance on him, but I hope it's not Marquette.

No, the original post was correct. The decision is completely in Symir's hands.

1, assuming no one leaves early/transfers, Eke's scholly is renewed despite being unable to play for 2 straight seasons, and Torrence sticks in 2020 instead of reclassifying to 2019.

Really?  I assume Marquette has some significant input.  Though if they have no better 2019 options I suppose it may be completely up to him.

I wonder if Haanif can go right yet.

... or finish above the rim.

I'll take Jamal and BB and Sacar, thanks.

But good luck to Haanif and hopes he can find a place to showcase his talent.
