With Ragu and Spellman officially gone, the Big East attrition is heavy and unprecedented. Game on.

The Big East had half of the one seeds, and put over half of the conference in.  It will for sure be a down year next year, but the overall strength of the conference should no longer be in question (relatively speaking, you always look to improve, but there was real concern, and rightly so, after the realignment).

Is it just me or is this a really odd way to refer to a National Champion?

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Great stuff Andrei. Time is now. I still think Villanova is my pick to win the BEast, but Marquette needs to be in the conversation this season. I think a 2nd place finish is a reasonable predication and outside the top 3 would be a disappointment.

I'm not taking anything away from Villanova, just would have liked to see more from anyone else.

Oh my. Goody, Goody. Villanova losing 4 of its top 6. That is good for us. We should move on up, because conference talent pool is being drained. Would rather to see talent level high and us at the top of that.

Unfortunately we can't control our conference opponents, just ourselves.

Thought you would be jazzed Willie. You're always complaining that people are giving Wojo too many excuses...now we are taking them away!

It is a positive thing for the conference to move players to the next tier.  The word is out that the Big East is a strong conference.

The good news is that there is a decent flow of traditional transfers and grad transfers that will be coming on board to most of the Big East teams this season.   In addition a number of schools have made excellent progress on their traditional recruiting. There were quite a few quality freshman last yaer  and we should see the impact of some of those recruits this year. In addition the incoming recruiting classes have been solid as well and many of those players will be making contributions as the season progresses.

So while Villanova may not be as dominant, the rest of the league,  for the most part , is trending in a good direction.

At least on paper, half the league is trending down from last season (Villanova, Xavier, Butler, Creighton, and Seton Hall).Four are trending up (Marquette, St. John's, Providence, and Georgetown). And one team looks to be static (DePaul).

League as a whole will be very down this season. Good news is that the league should rebound with a vengeance in 19-20.

Sorry, no excuses have been taken away. Excuses abound here for Wojo's performance, and if he does get MU out of the bottom tier of the BEast, the hossanas will flow. Long live the Wojo reign.

They don't play best of 3 or best of 5, best of 7.  That's why it is the NCAA tournament.  How was #1 Virginia supposed to do?

Wonder if Wojo had a crystal ball and could see this happening when he laid out his 5 Year plan in the "golden" Power Point?  Seems the stars are aligning quite well.

Wojo's mantra of "get old and stay old" is a good strategy.

Yeah, it would've been nice to see the other teams do better. But overall, only the ACC and Big 12 had more 2018 tournament wins than the BE. Not as great as I'd like, but not half bad.

Regarding the 2018-19 season, our table is set....

Could work against us.  Wojo has great two years, cashes out for another program and we go back to coaching search mode again.

Certainly does appear as thought there are a lot of external factors aligning well, combined with our getting older, and getting Chardonnay, McEwen, that look to have the program looking good.  The one wildcard of course, will be, the actually ability Wojo has as an in-game, X's and O's coach.  The talent is there.  The experience is there.  The departures in the conference have opened up a clear path to the Top 3 of the conference.  Value Add projects 21st ranking.  With solid coaching, all appear within reach - and we will have a peaceful season on Scoop.  :)
