James Akinjo. No Cal kid.

His finalists were

Pitt  (coach gone)
UCONN (coach gone)
Maryland  (coach on hot seat)
Indiana
California
Iowa State
Virginia

Were we ever recruiting him?

Why is Turgeon on the hot seat? 3 consecutive years of high NCAA seeds and two years removed from a Sweet 16. Is one bad year enough for Maryland to can him? Or is it the allegations with Diamond Stone?

Now there are three top 100 PG's available.  Rainey, Arizona decommit Brandon Williams and now Akinjo.  Odds of a good frosh PG going up.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

He's not.  Turgeon has some awesome recruits coming next year and if Justin Jackson doesn't declare for draft, they will be contenders for Big 10 title.

I still wish we had Buzz's JUCO network. That is the biggest difference - going for all four-year players. I'm fine with it, as it may work well long-term, but being able to find Crowder, DJO, Buycks etc and have them come here ready to play would sure help the young teams just like Rowsey transferring with two years under his belt.

I'm not going to pretend I am a scout, but if Brad Winton ranks a kid like Andres Feliz the 12th best JUCO prospect out there - I'd love to know we were taking a look at him. A three-star point guard two years ago could be a very advanced junior. Again, never seen him play so maybe he is lower level, but think we need a true point guard to get the ball to Howard and the Hausers next year and wish we would include JUCO looks again.

He's listed on the Hot Seat Report, but as warm seat.

Writer is clueless.  MD lost a potential lottery pick to injury in Jackson and took time for Cowan to replace Trimble as point guard.  By end of year, Cowan was one of best point guards.  Next year they have Jaylen Smith, a top 20 recruit stud (prior MU target), along with top 40 recruit Aaron Wiggins and top 50 recruit in Eric Ayala.  If Jackson stays, along with Cowan, Huerter, Fernandez and they will be very good.

I think the chances of Marquette getting involved with a kid like Akinjo depends on A). If Wojo feels he has a chance to get a grad transfer guard and B). If they feel good about their chance of getting a 2019 point guard.

Akinjo seems like a good player, but not sure he's what MU needs in 2018-2019.
