After tonight's game, Markus is shooting an insane 54.1% from distance. Not only does that currently lead the NCAA, if it holds, it would be the 2nd highest percentage since '92-'93.

After watching Steve Novak, I didn't think I would ever see a better 3-point shooter at MU. But, Howard is taking it to a new level.

While he certainly receives a good deal of praise around here, I don't know how many realize that we are currently witnessing a truly historic performance from the arc.

Sometimes I wish he shot it more. It may drop his percentages a bit, but hell, throw up 12-15 a game if you're hitting at a 45% clip.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

I completely agree. I think because he has a more well-rounded game than the typical high percentage three point specialist, it's easy to overlook how well he shoots the ball.

Howard is a diamond in the rough. This kid can shoot, and he can create his own shot too. He's a stud.

He's already our best player too.  Going to be exciting watching him for multiple years.

We R Final Four

Agreed--unreal shooter. Needs to work on the unnecessary between the legs crossover at half court though.

He has along way to go before he enters the NBA, and that is no lock there.  Sure, best shooter in college from distance, maybe one of the best ever looking at his
percentage.  But once he gets pass his man, he has great difficulty scoring and most of his shots are blocked.  Remember Butch Lee as a freshman, got his shots blocked in the paint as well.  But Butch learned and became player of the year,  both have the same body type but Butch became very powerful.  Curious if he grows
an inch or two which would really help, has to learn how to finish.  4 year player in my book, he will be only 21 anyway.  Secondly, has to learn how to play point.

Markus is a very enjoyable player to watch. I am confident he is going to make continued steady progress throughout his career .  He is likely to be our our all time leading scorer and definitely In the discussion at some point in his career for a Big East Player Of The Year. Soak in the moments while they last.

Wow, if he took 30 more this season, for arguments sake, he would need to hit 19 to set the all-time record.

Kinda makes you think he should have the ball in his hands at the end of a game, aina?

I don't think that is a good idea.  I think the reason he and MU in general shoot so well from three, besides being great shooters, is that we mostly take good threes.  We rush or unnecessarily take 3 pointers that we don't step into 3-4 times again and we hit a very poor percentage on those.  But when we have the ability to step into the three we are deadly.

Especially when the best shooter on the team and the second best shooter on the team are both unguarded on the perimeter and instead of one of them taking the last shot we go all hero ball on the turnaround fade away contested jumper.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

Interesting to read this hype, and the comment hoping he stays four years.  On Saturday I found myself thinking that it's a good thing he's 5'10", or he'd be a candidate to leave early.  Actually, it's sort of interesting that he may still be able to grow a couple inches due to age

Markus is a tremendous shooter.    Truly amazing.    Needs to become a better distributor.    Needs to work on his handle.    Needs to get stronger on defense.    It would not bother me if he grew to 6'1.      In a perfect world, MU would have a 6'3 slashing PG and Markus would be able to play off the ball, catch and shoot.    Alas.    But I am nothing but impressed by him doing what has he has as an undersized freshman.

Post game KR said he was completly caught off guard by jjj's pass he thought he was going for the layup. Said he was getting ready to jump for the rebound when he got the ball felt only choice because of time was to try a shot and have a chance at rebound or tip guess by either JJJ or Hauser. Hauser got hacked badly even announcers said a foul should have been called.

He is only 17!
Sadly, he'll be an adult soon.
Happy early birthday Markus, and don't forget to vote.
