Mainly because Wojo is a 3rd-year head coach. He has potential that's yet to be tapped.

Buzz is now in his 10th season as a Division I head coach. He's more of a known quantity.

Beyond that, Wojo might have a higher ceiling at Marquette simply because he's a better fit. Buzz repeatedly butted heads with the administration. He said he'd stay as long as MU would have him, then left for Virginia Tech — not exactly the sign of a coach who was happy and looking forward to the future here. If the trustees, president and AD are happy with Wojo, and Wojo is happy, he may be able to build a stronger program over time.

Buzz won 8 NCAA tournament games at Marquette. Call me when Wojo wins his 9th - not before he's even coached in his first.

Hustle beats talent when talent doesn't hustle.   Our talent needs to hustle.  And lead.    And quit their pouting and jogging back on defense.

Best quote of the young season.  There are two kind of teams in college basketball, the pretty teams and the teams that win ugly.  When you play below the rim you have to sweat, a lot.  Where is the sweat on the floor?  Where are the towel kids drying up the floor all the time?

Teams like Duke and Princeton can win pretty, one because of talent the other because of the league.
I can see now why all that Buzz boot came rah, rah was needed and how it worked.

If I  want to watch pretty boys, I  might as well go to a Princeton game and watch grass grow.

There is no "muscle" on this roster. Guys like Burke, Gardner, even Clausen, are desperately lacking. Need to be able to bang, defend and rebound. Bulk matters.

For a recruit or transfer, there is playing time to be had.  They should be looking for a mid-year transfer right now.

The la k of muscle seems to be a problem every year since Gardner and Otule left.k

Yeah, because Buzz left the cupboard bare. Wojo had Fischer and nothing more. His first class, he got a 5-star big and a project in Heldt that looks to be developing competently. He missed out on Washington and Nichols, but next year we have two legit bigs coming in.

This stuff doesn't happen overnight. The reason Bucky always has "that guy" is because they've developed that over the past fifteen years. We won't start to look like that until 2018 and beyond. Patience sucks. I'm a Cub fan too, so I get that. But it's not just a roster retool, it's creating a sustained culture.

I'm afraid that this is what it will be like after every loss until Wojo has gotten into the tournament in consecutive seasons. There will be fire Wojo posts after we lose @Nova this season.

Nailed it.  Nothing to be afraid of--IMO this is how it should be.  MU spending beaucoup bucks and fans want to see a return on the investment.

I think that you are living in the past.  Have you kept track of the rule changes to allow for offensive player movement?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Don't see our guys on the floor too often. That hasta change.

As for Buzz, 'nuff said in that other thread. Personally water under the bridge. I appreciate Wojo doesn't treat his players as "my guys" and "his guys".

Wojo is building his program. I don't think we'll see much of hotshot Jucos or transfers. Not Wojos style.
I like the size that's coming in the next couple classes.

UW game stinky sure...But how can we throw away this season. We are better than DP STJ, GT, PV, we play well and 6-2 or better. For SH 1-1. for  CR, BT, X, VN 2-6 minimum. That's 9-9. A win in BET and we're in.

Let's see what this crew can do against GT, then we'll see what we can see...
