This article lists Sam Hauser at 6-7. If he can shoot 44% from 3-point range and haul down a few rebounds, he'll definitely earn his share of minutes.

A brief interview with Travis Diener about the offense this season. Calls Sam "very strong." Says Katin Reinhardt can play "the 2, 3 or 4."

Review of Howard included with the link to Hauser.

Yeah I think it'd warrant some playing time if he's in the top 50 in 3P% in the country.

Pretty sure Duane shot over 50% from three in high school. No reason to expect Sam to shoot as well in College as he did last year. That being said, I wonder if he'll have a less significant drop off than Duane because of his height?

He should find a way to spend as much time in a gym as possible with Steve Novak.

Have heard the Duane 50% a million times... never believed it. I'd look at his EYBL stats...

Duane shot 33% from 3 as a soph in high school.  43% as a junior.  And an incredible 55% as a senior with about 4 attempts per game.

nm got confused about who was being discussed between Hauser and Reinhardt.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Marcus92

The 44% number comes from the first article about Sam Hauser. Second paragraph, last sentence:

"He shot 44% from the 3-point line..."

I have no idea how much playing time Sam will get, or what percentage he'll shoot. I only stated that if he shoots 44% ("if" being the keyword), he'll find a place in the rotation. That doesn't exactly make it a prediction.

It's been awhile since we've seen anything like that kind of shooting at Marquette. But it's not unheard of. Carlino shot 41% from 3-point range in his first season. DJO and Novak hit 47% and 51%, respectively.

I do expect MU to make more 3s this season — and to shoot better than 33.9% (217th in the country) from long range.

Looking up Sam's high school career stats, I'm not sure where the article gets the 44% figure.

During the 2015-16 season, he hit 52 threes out of 126 attempts (41.3%) in 28 games. The year before, he was 74-142 (52.1%). For his career, Sam shot 128-274 (46.7%).

Whatever the exact percentage, seems safe to say he's a good outside shooter.

I think MU should hire Novak as an adjunct professor to teach "Art of the 3" and it can be a "jock" class that still earns you 3 credits. It's a win-win.

I had a dream last night that Novak taught me how to drop bologna from downtown, it was awesome
