Dang, they announced this too early.

Back in 1984, McDonalds had a scratch off game that would make you a winner every time the U.S. won a medal.

The odds of getting a winning scratch off ticket was calculated by the Commies being a the Olympics.  The USSR pulled out at the last minute.  It was too late for McD's to stop the competition. 

I was working in DT Chicago at the time, and must of had 300 free Big Mac's that summer for lunch at the McD's on Wabash.
