A-10 flight sim - auction item
« on: March 30, 2016, 11:30:20 AM »
Kids school auction is this weekend and one of the live auction items is an afternoon with the 303rd Squadron (A-10 jocks) at Whitman culminating in an hour in the sim.  Keefe - how much does this bad boy go for?  and yes i'll bid for it, but since it's the live auction it'll get out of my (wife's) price range pretty quick.

There's also a weekend at The American Club with both golf and tickets on the 45 for any Packer's game if anyone wants me to bid on their behalf.

The A10 is a mid-major flight simulator that will oftentimes disappoint come crunch time.

I'd be willing to bid on that just to see a flight sim that runs on an Apple //e.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

I know those guys, the Kilo Charlies - I forgot they moved from Dickie Goober over to Whiteman.

I'm not sure how much you should pay since I got paid to play in them but the sim is a lot of fun so throw a couple hundred at it. Make sure they give you one of their squadron coins - really cool shaped like an arrowhead. You'll keep that one for sure.

It went for $2,750.  Bidding started real slow so I jumped in a couple of times but heated up pretty quickly.

Money well spent and for a good cause.

If you ever meet one of those guys ask them for a squadron coin. Their arrowhead coin is one of the better ones out there.

Well this thread pisses me off.  My client, TRU Simulation makes simulators and wouldn't even let me walk inside one let alone have at it.  I just assumed it was a security clearance issue.  And now they are auctioning off simulator time?

Maybe I should take it personal?   >:(

Bathing? Deodorant? Listerine?

Seriously, though, I think the sim mfr won't let you mess with it for a number of reasons.

But crew dogs flying the line?? Sure, c'mon down! Did you bring beer?

Aside from the fact the that the kids at this school are incredibly special and destined to be their generations leaders....

I think, and i'm totally connecting dots not stating fact, it was a combo of the pro sport teams fly overs coming from Whitman which the school has ties to both of the teams (i was going to say all three but the third is MSL), in addition to having a kid in 1st grade who's dad was a USAF Officer KIA.

I don't know any specifics about the latter - was just informed - if true i'm impressed with both organizations.  Also, i'll tell the high bidder to ask for the coin - thanks for the tip.
