Lunardi just released his first bracket for 2017.

Points of Interest:

  • No mention of MU (as expected)

  • 5 Big East schools: Nova (1 seed), Xavier (3 seed), Seton Hall (4 seed), Butler (9 seed) and Creighton (12 seed/play-in game), with Providence in the 'first four out'

  • Big East's 5 bids places fifth, with the Big Ten and ACC both receiving 8 and the Pac-12 and Big 12 both receiving 6

  • Buzz and VaTech fail to Dance, but sit alongside Providence in the 'first four out'

  • Crean and Indiana get a 4 seed
The Flutie Effect: "A significant and positive correlation between a university having a successful team and higher quality of incoming freshmen, alumni donations, and graduation rates."

If we can't beat out creighton and providence I'm going to be livid. I get that rebuilding is a process but no. Especially if Bentil leaves as well.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Lunardi typically takes the easy road.  I think this is an example.

The 2017 predictions were prepared with the expectation that Henry was gone off a team that was a 20-winner largely feasting on cupcakes. To people who don't read Scoop (and many who do), there is much mystery around the 2016-2017 version of the Warriors.

It's silly to even try Bracketology at this point. We don't have our roster complete. We don't know our schedule and we don't know how good many of our known opponents are going to be. This is faddism raised to the sixth power with sportswriters guessing based on the relationships they have in basketball.

I'd like to think we'll make the tournament but my expectations will be based on who takes Henry's roster spot; how much improvement we see in Big Fischy, Duane and Traci and whether the improvement we saw late last year with JJJ carries over. We also need a little more awareness of what we have with Hauser and Rowsley and we need to see how Wojo grows as a coach.

Until then, I'll withhold judgment.

Next time, use teal!   8-)

No ... we really are doomed!

Tournament? Tournament? I'm just hoping we can win a game!
