89 combined points, lowest since at least 2000.

Berkeley was on Tru ripping this game a new one, called it unwatchable.

Both teams got over 39, heeyna?

From east coast perspective, St. Johns best and most informed, Seton Hall by far the worst, I won't leave the building until the thugs clear the parking garage.

RushmoreAcademy

Worst tournament game I can remember in a long while (not because of the result).  Three's missing the rim completely, countless missed bunnies.  Xavier should be licking their chops.

Did you see the bit they did about Weber State and the Pitt band?

Weber State could not afford to send ther band to their game against Xavier.  So they paid each member of the Pitt band $15 to stick around, put on Weber state shirts and play for their fans.  They showed a video of them switching shirts between games.

The Pitt band even volunteered to learn the Weber State fight song and played it.

Is this a new thing?  Could be a new trend for low budgets 13 to 16 seeds.

Not common necessarily, but Definitely been done before.

Correct.

In 1996 when Marquette hosted, Univ of Portland was sent to us.  They played Villanova and had no band, so another school (Tulsa, I think) played for them.

Lots of times.  The Marquette band played for (edit:  I can't recall who it was), if my memory serves me, in the 1968 mideast regional in Lexington Kentucky.  My brother had interesting stories from that trip.  He had never witnessed racial segregation, etc.

Did he go to Marquette?   I ask only because Milwaukee is one of the most segregated cities in the country.

Has da scene changed? Back in da day, da NCAA paid for 40 band members and 8 cheerleaders to attend these Tourney games. 4 to a room and MU kicked in $12 per dime for grub and such. We actually made money on that deal. Could get a burger, fries, and a Coke for $.52, hey?

Um, if he was playing for the Marquette band, yes, he attended Marquette.  This was 1968.  Lexington, Kentucky.  I should have stated that he had never seen such open segregation before.  For example, he had never seen "Whites Only" signs in Milwaukee.

Yes indeed.  Some might even be related.

Thats not even the "normal" fans.  I went to MU-SHU at Prudential this year and had a 30 something "educated" basketball-wise SH fan behind me constantly saying Henry was overrated, he was strictly a spot up shooter and rebounder and kept yelling "make him dribble, he cant dribble!" then said "yea, I wasn't impressed by him at all".  Another fan was cackling about how they made "that lottery pick look like complete crap".  If I recall correctly, Henry had 12 and 10.  What a miserable showing indeed.

Milwaukee is the 80s was not a very integrated place. And locals were pretty open about their perception of minorities.

Blacks were disliked, hispanics were a nuisance, and Asians were a curiosity.
