Not that it's uncommon among athletes and performers, but this seems like the beginning of a "Behind The Music."

I'm trying to find the quote, but back when he was a rookie, Shane Battier was asked if he had any entourage.  He said something like "I have this old lady that cleans my apartment twice a week.  Does she count?"

I guess if you are working with a financial advisor and are heeding their advice, you are fine.  But this stuff always worries me.

Combine this attitude with that famous t-shirt that he once wore, that should not be spoken about, and he may have an ESPN special about him in 20 years.  Unfortunately, the special won't be about what a great money manager he is...
I hope he wises up, or that he is just talking some smack and actually has a little better financial plan.

I don't think this article is anything too alarming. Jimmy is a solid dude who also grew up with a bad family situation. Nothing wrong with keeping friends around, IMO.

I gave him and lazar beers once outside O.D. in 2009 (That's right TAMU it was out of your jurisdiction) so I expect to at least get a full repayment of that beer plus 300% interest and paid for the psychological damages of losing shot gunning a beer to him.

I don't think this article is anything too alarming. Jimmy is a solid dude who also grew up with a bad family situation. Nothing wrong with keeping friends around, IMO.

Last time I checked friends do not have to be paid if they are friends. If he is paying for an occasional flight, food and hotel that is one thing, if he is buying jewelry, clothes, entertainment etc. It would be a real shame. Let's hope for the best.
