Rob Dauster is really, really good and is often ahead of the curve. I would have waited to see if we get one of great senior transfers before considering a chance to be ranked again, but he thinks we are already there.

My way to early coming out on Breitbart has Marquette much further down, so ignore mine and read Dauster!
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

He has 50% of the Big East ranked!

Conference breakdown (I hope my math is correct)

Big East = 5
Pac-12 = 5
ACC = 5
SEC = 3
B12 = 3
B10 = 2
Other = 2 (Gonzaga, Wichita State)

Not bad for a mid-major!

sorry, hadn't been on for a while and didn't notice it in a quick scan. Great news - obviously organizers feel free to combined with original

OK, I'm lighting my candle in the back of church in hopes he is right. I think we have a lot going for us next year and our 2016 edition will bear little resemblance to the team that just finished this season.

But....

There are so many unknowns next year. Will our freshman perform as promised? I'd like to think so, but until they put on a Marquette uniform and play against top competition, who knows? Will Luke and Henry's injuries heal properly? COach Wojo thinks so, but call me Mr. Missouri -- show me. How will our team mesh? What did Wojo learn last year that makes him a better coach?

All of this and more coming to your local Scoop posting, television and radio this fall. Same Warrior Times. Same Warrior Channels.

Until then, I'm optimistic but skeptical.

Color me skeptical.  We haven't had a freshman class provide a large-scale, immediate positive impact since the three amigos in 2005-6.  We thought it was going to happen several times since, but it really hasn't.  I think we will certainly be much-improved, but not that much.

I'm surprised they didn't add STj in the "Who gone" column. Was he really that much of a non-factor?

This certainly speaks to the wretched state of college basketball. A team with only 4 players returning, not one of whom averaged 12 pts. a game. And no seniors on the team.

Boy it sure is fashionable to hate the quality of college basketball right now.

I don't think it's nearly as bad as the cliff jumpers would have us believe.

I like to think of Wally as a returnee.  A year's worth of practice and being in the program and all.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Yeah, I really do too. And as I said here before, I think he will become a fan favorite very quickly.

Yeah, because our seniors saved our season last year. Before anybody puffs out their chest to respond...don't.

At least the tourney. The regular season is basically ignored.

We haven't had a coach that assembled a group of freshmen who just won the national championship before either.

Which coach did that--Wojo-no! K yes. Which group of freshmen won a national championship--not ours. WTF does this statement mean?

We haven't, but while Henry is certainly an elite prospect, the rest of this class doesn't feature All Americans like Okafor, Jones, Winslow, and Allen. What excites me about next season is we'll start to see if Wojo can evaluate talent. Can Anim, Carter, and Cheatham come in and provide immediate impact? It will be those recruits that ultimately define Wojo as a coach.

Fischer, Duane, and Henry is a fine trio to build around. If the staff lands Miller and/or Lee, that's an excellent base. But you need guys to develop and contribute behind the expected stars. At this point, I don't think we deserve this ranking because we haven't seen any evidence the rest of the roster will be at that level.
