Celtic Truth

Only 9 schools have made at least 5 sweet 16s since 2008. They are Mich st, Arizona, Kentucky, Louisville, UNC, Duke, Wisconsin, Kansas, and Xavier. Other than one obvious team on there that's a pretty elite group that Xavier is in.

Avenue Commons

Extremely impressive. Great work, Xavier. Great to see a Jesuit school excel. AMDG.

Impressive - a great addition to the BE.  Hope we're talking about a Xavier Elite 8 soon!

I certainly don't. Arizona is a much more formidable foe for UW.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

I wish. They tend to eat up teams like Carolina that aren't efficient, and rely on transition baskets.

Rodents by 10+ tonight, I'm afraid.

Hope so! But Meeks' injury scares me

he's probably fine, Roy Williams always plays coy with injured players hoping for the Willis Reed effect

'xactly.  No chance for the Heels unfortunately.

The Big East no longer has the number two school in Cincinnati.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Warrior Code

Anyone know the perception around Cincy as far as UC vs. Xavier? Is Xavier the "little brother" in town? Are they sort of equals? X has certainly had more success recently and plays in a better conference. Just curious.

The alma mater of Oscar Robertson was the top basketball program not just in Cincinnati, but in the state of Ohio pretty much from the beginning.  They are up there ahead of Marquette in the top 15 programs all time for times ranked in the AP top 25, top 10, etc.  Then Matta got to Ohio State, and now Xavier is pushing past them for dominance in Cincinnati.  They're slipping, and being in the American Athletic isn't going to help stem the tide.

Xavier used to be so bad back in the day that Al McGuire used to consider them a cupcake, no exaggeration.  Over the last 30 years Xavier has slowly caught up to and now IMO is in the process of moving past Cincinnati for top dog in town.

Don't forget: their current coach has had some health scares.

I always root for BE teams in the tourney, but for some reason this year is different.  I was/am rooting REALLY hard.  Come on, Musketeers!!

In the long run, I hope Cincy continues to chase football to no avail and X can get the monopoly on bball in the city/region

bradley center bat

Xavier has a better track record than Pitt in the ncaa tourament in the past 10 years. Problem was Xavier never got the love nationwide being hidden in the A10.

BM1090

The dilemma here is I think X can beat Arizona but doubt they can beat Wisconsin....so I'm not sure who to cheer for.

Avenue Commons

Matt Stainbrook is clearly a disciple of Davante Gardner's school of hoops.

ChitownSpaceForRent

God I hate Matt Stainbrook but kind of like him at the same time. Is this what it was like to play against Davante?

Spaniel with a Short Tail

Xavier acquitting themselves nicely. I need Arizona to win by 11 to move on in my pool, but I didn't feel good about that even at tipoff. Just as soon enjoy seeing X win.

MUEng92

I can see it now. X plays just well enough to knock off Arizona, then they won't be able to hit a shot on Saturday

They haven't been able to hit a shot tonight.

Galway Eagle

Nice knowing we were one of those years they didn't make it.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!
