Jimmy Butler doesn't need surgery

http://espn.go.com/chicago/nba/story/_/id/12408787/jimmy-butler-chicago-bulls-expected-miss-3-6-weeks-need-elbow-surgery

Jimmy Butler is expected to miss three to six weeks with a sprained left elbow, the latest setback for the injury-plagued Chicago Bulls.

However, Butler will not need surgery to repair the injury, a league source confirmed to ESPNChicago.com.

Butler was diagnosed with a Grade 2/3 ulnar ligament sprain and a small bone impaction injury after undergoing an MRI on Monday, one day after he was injured in a loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

He suffered the injury when he collided with Clippers center DeAndre Jordan three minutes into the second half Sunday and did not return.

The hope within Butler's camp is that rest and treatment will allow him to come back before the regular season ends and get a few games under his belt alongside Derrick Rose, who is expected to be out four to six weeks after having knee surgery Friday.

Butler, who became an All-Star for the first time this season, has been the Bulls' best two-way player this season, averaging 20.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 55 games.

The Bulls also are without Taj Gibson, who is wearing a walking boot after spraining his left ankle in Friday night's win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Gibson has been dealing with the same injury throughout the season and was not putting any weight on the ankle after Friday's game.

Glad to see they have adopted the Marquette way!

Watching the play, and even the replay, it didn't look like much.   Just goes to show how fragile it can all be.

Reminiscent of Dominic's injury against UConn - didn't look like anything, but it effectively ended his MU career.

If Thibs doesn't make the ECF, I'm betting he's gone. (which makes almost zero sense, considering it would be hard to get a better coach this off-season)

If Thibs leaves... I could see Chicago looking at a rebuild - Gasol is old. Noah is injured/end of contract. Rose is injured. Dunleavy is old. Gibson is injured. Hinrich is old.

Yeah, he got crunched in a pick, like he has been many times.   This time, it resulted in 3-6 weeks off.

Well maybe Thibs will finally give Snell good minutes consistently.

Sad to see Jimmy get hurt though, I was hoping he could maintain his high level of play for the whole season.
