I was at this game, my first World Series ever.  Game 2 Dodgers Yankees.  Welch came into the 9th, struck out Jackson. I was young, under the age of 10 and didn't totally appreciate the moment or the battle it was.  Still have the newspaper clipping and the ticket from the game.  Got lucky that the fireman across the street had 2 tickets and literally about 2 hours before the game he asked if I could go as his son was sick.  Pretty awesome experience.  Ron Cey hit a 3 run homer, then Welch in the epic 6 minute at bat with Reggie.

Heart attack.  Scioscia went to the funeral yesterday and missed the Angels game.

211 wins, pretty impressive.  Not many guys are going to get to 200 wins anymore, let alone 300 with the way the game is setup now.

Jackson and Welch would miss each other by a season in Oakland.
Jackson left at the close of the 1987 season.
Welch joined the 1988 staff.

Three things I observed in that clip:
1) Paul Blair wore #2 (Jeter's *ahem* number) and arguably the third best player to wear it for the pinstripes: Jeter and Red Rolfe.
2) Jackson was super pissed at whiffing strike 3.
3) The fans running onto the field. Miss that.

I'm just thrilled I got to be there for Welch striking out Jackson.  I was also at Halos Giants games 6 and 7, including Barry Bonds hitting a HR that is still in orbit, a 5-0 lead in the 7th and the Dusty Baker giving the game ball to their pitcher to take into the dugout because they thought it was over...6 run in the next 2 innings was best karma ever.

Luis Aparicio tripping on 3rd base and not scoring the tying run in the second to last game of the season in 1972 against the Tigers, in a season the Tigers beat the Sox by 1/2 game

Game 6 of the 1975 World Series alone had several big moments

Carbo hitting the biggest HR of the game (3 run HR with 2 outs in the 8th to tie it)
Evans' robbing Morgan of an HR and turning it into a DP
Foster nailing Denny Doyle at the plate to preserve the tie
Fisk's homer to win it

Don't think so, but it was a prescription for disaster regardless.  The game was a forfeit in the 9th when fans rushed the field and Indians players had to defend Rangers with their bats from their own fans.

I went to the last 3 games ever played at Municipal Stadium, October 1993 as both my parents were from Cleveland.  They wheeled Bob Hope out there to dig up home plate.  There were some crazy stories from my relatives about 10 cent beer night.  I believe they also had one of the games where the flies or cicadas took over the stadium resulting in the game being called or something.

Yount's motorcycle ride.

I'm an O's fan but I loved the AL East back in the day. (Those of us from the east coast had great debates between the BoSox, NYY, O's, Tigers, and Brewers when I was at MU.) I wanted the Brewers to win the Series and was disappointed when they didn't. But the celebration at County Stadium was great and Yount riding a bike around the field while Thomas and Vuke swilled beer is classic.

milwaukee held the first 10 cent beer night on june 18 1971 while cleveland(forfeited game) tried it 3 years later.  what the hell were they thinking??  one guy ordered 130 bears and his group(doesn't say how many) finished them by the 6th inning...

I think he knew that. I mentioned Cleon as I saw that play. Nippy, though, likely has greater traction in Milwaukee as that was part of the Braves' greatest season's lore.
