BoDeans October 4th
« on: October 05, 2014, 07:32:51 AM »
I saw the BoDeans last night as the played a show in my neck of the woods.  They sounded great and it appears the original drummer is back.
They had a meet and great after the show and I Spoke with Kurt for a little bit picked up a few Marquette tidbits.

* They have a album coming out in February.

* He recalled this summer's show for alumni weekend and said some alumni did get a little crazy, but they had a very fun time and would gladly play Marquette alumni weekend again if asked.

* Kurt said they had been contacted by Jim Foley's family as Jim like many alums was apparently a big BoDeans fan and they were asked to play at a future benefit show in honor of Jim. Kurt didn't know where or when yet, but someone is putting an event together and the BoDeans agreed to participate.  He said it was a such a tragedy they felt it was one thing they could do to help out.

If they brought back the original drummer  (Guy Hoffman?), then no.    Original bassist, Bob Griffin exited about a decade ago.   Sammy Llanas decided to go solo just a couple of years ago.

I should have said one of their on again-off again drummers Kenny Aronoff.  Wikipedia actually has a good listing of the membership changes.

And they are based out of Austin, TX (Dripping Springs) now.  I didn't realize that previously.
