Real nice article from Hunt. This is the best interview I've seen in terms of actually talking basketball and not just saying nice things about the program.

I have hopes for the upcoming season but...you can't make bricks without straw. I long to be surprised, I dream of major recruiting coups for 2015-2016 but...the future can be a fickle thing to wish upon

That is mean-spirited and very, very funny!
Calvin:  I'm a genius.  But I'm a misunderstood genius.
Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

No matter what the team that was returning, the new coach is always going to lower expectations.

I believe Brent did the same thing when he started with a top ten team in 2009.

Agree with this. Lowering expectations is the smart thing to do all around. Our enthusiasm will remain high .

Stuck out to me that he made a point to say that were coming off our worst season in over a decade.  It seems like almost a pump up statement saying that's unacceptable.

As far as expectations go I don't think it's right for all of us to sit there expecting nothing of this team.  The majority were still top athletes coming out of high school and I think it's fair to have somewhat high exactions relative to depth and physical limitations.

Your correct we shouldn't be expecting nothing out of this team.  The team has a lot of talent.  On the other hand we are truly starting from scratch in terms of line up playing rotation coach etc and it is fair to give everyone a little bit of breathing room. That said I think we have the ability to go 9-3 in non conference and 12-6 in conference.

The talent is young, 4 sophs (5th when Luke starts to play) 1 frosh, 1 junior coming off a hurt or disappointing soph year, a senior that is new and 2 seniors that have proven they are not
that good, .500 would be a good year.

If they were FT's, he made about 46%, if floor shots about 33%, if 3 pointers, he still has not connected.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind.

Well played sir.

My favorite part of the article was the bit about Luke Fischer. Wojo seems to think he will be an all-conference player one day. Gives me a shred of optimism.

Very realistic piece and Wojo sees realty and also wants to manage realistic expectations. Nice balance of optimism with realty. It will be a tough year, but if a couple of players surprise we might well hold our own. Will be nice to see the season start and see how he coaches up the student athletes.

Go Wojo and Go  Marquette!

I watched him in the pro am for about 5 minutes and he made two threes in that time.

Hopefully we can somehow turn into the 3pt shooting team from 2009-2010, then well be alright.

Agree - that comment bodes well.  Wojo hasn't made ANY type of proclamations about the ceiling potential of any of the other players.  Has said Burton is a force.  But not claimed or assigned all conference potential to anybody.  To say that about Luke?  That's really encouraging.  Put Luke with that sophomore class, and this team has a very high ceiling if not this year..next year.  Still think we will win 20 games this season, however.

"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

I guess he does not consider Carlino a Senior.
