I would say that if Louisville was still in the American, there would be a decent-sized chance that we could still schedule a regular series with them (Louisville wouldn't want to rely on scheduling the likes of ECU, Tulane, Tulsa, UCF, etc. on regular basis).  However, with them now being in the ACC, and playing the likes of Duke, UNC, Virginia, NC State, Syracuse, PITT, and even the basketball powerhouse Virginia Tech ( ;D), I'd say that their strength of schedule will be set for a long time.

There's no need to bump up their SOS with us, and our rivalry (while fun and competitive) isn't strong enough to keep it going.

But, who knows?  Stranger things have happened with scheduling in years past.  We DID get a game cancelled due to condensation on the court... on an aircraft carrier... on the water...

Do you get a big RPI bump from losses?  We're 5-11 against UL since Wade left, including a sad 2-5 recently (under Buzz).  Sure there have been many exciting games, but mostly they've been heartbreaking for us.  We haven't won a close game against them since 2004.  And we lost by 19 or more 4 times!

This is why I don't want to see UL again.    We've been Louisville's bitch, plain and simple.  They have our number, and it's excruciating losing to them over and over.   I realize people don't like thinking that.

Yeah, yeah, you gotta play tough teams.  Let's play a different tough team.

SI has an article up about rivalries they would like to see renewed. 8th on the list is ND-Marquette:

Irish coach Mike Brey has said on multiple occasions that he wanted to schedule some of the Catholic schools that constitute the new Big East and that served as peers and rivals for his program when it was a part of that league. Milwaukee might not be the best place to start if the aim is to make appearances in fertile recruiting areas. But there's the colorful history with former coaches Al McGuire and Digger Phelps, new Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski and Brey are linked by their time at Duke (Brey was an assistant during two of Wojciechowski's seasons as a player, and games between the Golden Eagles and Fighting Irish were typically entertaining in the final years of the old Big East. The series was 118 games old when it was paused after the 2012-13 season due to Notre Dame's move to the ACC. It should get started again sooner than later.

Should also prove to be a slight bump for MU's RPI for the next four years.

Only if Georgetown wins.
