After getting past the success/or lack of from former Duke assistants, I'm on board with the Wojo hired.

One of the more important aspects of his hiring, is that he has been relentless in recruiting Chicago for years now. The Chicago pipeline to Duke has been impressive. He most likely isn't going to get the Parker's/Okafor's to MU, but the contacts he's made in recruiting Chicago are very important.

Where is the proof that he has recruited Chicago well? Wasnt'Collins the main guy behind Jabari?

Duke has recruited Chicago well long before Chris Collins joined the staff, though I'm not sure Wojo deserves the credit for that either. Coach K, after all, is a Chicago guy and has long had a pipeline into the city.
That said, Wojo - through Duke - likely has strong contacts with the Chicago scene, and that can only help.

pretty hard to recruit at Duke....

Actually it is - since they are recruiting against Kentucky, Kansas, UCLA, North Carolina, etc. It's not like they are going hard after the same guys as the large majority of schools

Nobody here thinks he's going to land Parker or Okafor, but when you already have existing relationships with Simeon, Whitney Young, and the Mac Irvin Fire it's only going to help.

It's all relative.
At MU, a coach competes with Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa State, DePaul, etc. for recruits.
At Duke, a coach competes with Kansas, Kentucky, Florida, UNC, etc. for recruits.

We're playing checkers. They're playing chess.

No. It's not necessarily more of a thinking man's game with the blue bloods, it's more of a race to the bottom of the scruples barrel.

Coaches network like crazy.  Coach K has the ability to help his coaching tree with hundreds of recruits beyond Duke's 4 to 5 annual needs.

I think you're taking my (stolen) analogy too literally.
I'm not suggesting it's any more of a "thinking man's game," I'm suggesting it's a different game.
Recruiting against Kansas and Kentucky for kids who'll be in the Association in a year or two (and dealing with all the handlers and other garbage that comes with it) is different than going after the next tier or two of recruits against lesser programs.

The only place with more Poles than Chicago is Warsaw.  Wojo's name will be a plus there.

Fullodds

We will dominate recruiting chicago polish basketball players.  Book it!

The FIBS will tell you Kaminski is a Lisle kid, not a Chicago kid.

Fullodds

Kaminsky played for Gene Heidkamp at Benet Academy---excellent coach

LISLE IS NOT CHICAGO. This has been a PSA.

Geez, I always thought it was Detroit. Learn something new everyday.

Often thought that too.  Guys from 20 to 100 all would take a Duke offer in a second.  Once K gets his recruits (top 20), does he help his coaching tree with the rest?

He certainly isn't going to negatively recruit against his former asst.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.
