Anyone checked on whether the Huggy Bear wants to leave West Virginia? Wouldn't it be great to have him stalking the Marquette sidelines.

He can recruit.

He wins.

He drives opponents mad!

OK, he has a little trouble with the bottle, but who in Milwaukee doesn't? And looking at him, he has a healthy appetite for cheese and bratwurst.

Huggy would be a major upgrade over Cuonzo, Buzz and virtually anyone else. For $2.5 million, I'll even bet Huggy would listen!!!!

ChicosBailBonds

How about Bill Self, Brad Stevens, Tiny Archibald or Jane Fonda?

Fonda is too old.

WVU is his dream job.  He left K-State after 1 year.  Despite being at his dream job, WVU has been pretty lackluster the last few years.  Huggy doesn't seem as aggressive and one his starters just declared that he's going to transfer, which was a shocker to the whole team.  I'm beginning to wonder if Huggy Bear has lost his edge and the bottle has taken over.

Tums Festival

Put him in a time machine and take him back 20 years...maybe.

Even 20 years ago he'd still be too drunk to drive.

Huggy 20 years ago ..... disappointing tournament flameouts + numerous player arrests and off-court problems.
Not quite what Marquette needs right now.

When he was at Cincinnatti, he sure gave MU some memorable games.  I will miss that rivalry and group of thugs he always brought to the Bradley Center.  During free throws, the crowd would chant   "He won't graduate"  as Huggin's team was notorious for having one of the worst graduation rates in the country.

WarriorFan

Isn't he the one who had the most consecutive 0% graduation classes some time back?

I don't think that's what MU needs.

Huggins is laughable for so many reasons, most mentioned previously.  I seriously worry that he will just fall over one of these days.  Sat next to the tunnel where players come out and saw Huggins up close a few years ago, he looks bad, over weight skin looks pale etc.  He really needs to take better care of himself, already had one heart attack.

Agreed.  Huggins shouldn't be managing a program.  He should be in a program.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

I don't know if he passes the sniff test, but you can definitely smell the booze on him during the sniff test

Doesn't anyone on this board besides Chicos know sarcasm when they see it?

Ohhh, of course I realize it's sarcasm!  He'd tell MU to *&%$ off if they called him.  Nonetheless, it's interesting to talk about Huggins, who was once our greatest rival.  I mean... he's an alcoholic that recruits thugs.  How could you not want to talk about the guy? His Cincy teams would always get under out skin.  Gotta love the Buzz dance on WVU's floor.  That was a classic moment, seeing the fan's reaction.  If there wasn't any security, Buzz would have been hanging in the rafters.

I thought we were looking for loyalty in a coach

Death on call

Benny B

I'd take Huggy.... as an assistant to the director of basketball operations.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.
