To get on a lighter subject than the "what happened" or "who's leaving" topics I thought I would throw this out there.  What type of styles would you like to see Marquette run going forward.  Forget about which coaches we want and what styles they run, think of it as if all of the coaching targets were equally desirable.  What would you want the team to be running or looking like.  Admittedly I am not a big X's & O's guy, but my thoughts are:

Defensively I would love to see a high pressure full court defensive with some trapping mixed in.  Full court 1-2-1-1 from time to time would be great.  Fall back into a man to man in transition and in the half court.

Offensively - A mix of 4 out 1 in or 3 out 2 in motion based on what personnel are on the floor, obviously with my desire for pressure defense I expect the 4 to be athletic and capable of hitting outside shots or posting up (i.e. Crowder or Hayward).  I think it is asking a lot of the player at the four and after the PG it would be the most important position to recruit for.

I like having MU known as a quick, run-and-gun team.  I think it contrasts nicely with Wisconsin.  As many others have noted, MU is now the "cool" place to be for Wisconsin recruits.  There is a reason Noskowiak (sp?) and Cohen see MU as their "dream school."  I believe this to be a big reason.

That said, I'd like for us to keep the run-and-gun, athletic, in-your-face style of MU teams of a few years ago, but if we get Howland and that's not how our team plays, then the trade-off is more than worth it IMO

I too would love to see us play some run and gun style ball, maybe similar to what Buzz ran in his earlier years. It seemed like we slowed down pace a lot in the last 2-3 years, got less transition baskets, etc. I like that style a lot, it is fun to watch. But, I agree - get whoever gives us the best chance to win. If we play slow and contend for the BE title every year, I'm happy with that.
