I'm hoping DJ will have a great season this year and will start hitting shots consistently.  However, I really do not see why he would be leaving after this year, unless he does better than his freshman and sophomore year combined.

I don't stay on top of everything, but aren't we out of available scholarships for 2008-2009?  On draftexpress, they have DJ being drafted as the sixth pick in the second round, of 2009 (McNeal's 13th, second round).  I don't understand why some people talk like he's not going to be here next year.

I know we haven't played a single game yet and a lot can happen in a season, but if this were Burger King and I could have it my way, DJ and the resta the Amigos will stay for their senior year.  If by then we have a reliable and productive 4 or 5, we will be a bad ass team, especially with the crew we have now...Christopherson hopefully gaining confidence and becoming a reliable marksman...Lazar getting better...and all the recruits...woo...

The only 4's on the team next year are Burke, Mbakwe, and Hazel.  No 5's and if someone doesn't leave then there is no scholie for Otule or another potential "reliable and productive 5".  Then you are looking at Burke and Mbakwe starting at 4 and 5 with Hazel as the only backup unless you play 4 guard.  Either way it will be tough with GU and "Loo-a-vul" getting 5 star bigs this year

BUT I am not advocating or wanting DJ to leave, just stating the dilemna

and stating it acurately.  I think the urgency for a pair of 5's is huge, especially if we're relagated to the less skilled/more prone to foul 5's.

Cool...okay, thanks for the clarification on that whole dilemma.

I just hope DJ turns it around from last year.  If he could have Matthews' consistency, then I can see and respect DJ leaving, and then yay for opening up a spot for a 5.

Maybe the docs and surgeons can go all Gattaca on Mbakwe and add a few inches to his height.
