This process is going to take some time. No one is going to up and commit to moving their family to a new town over night. Wives careers, kids schools etc all come in to play. Money is important but not the most important thing at this level. All of the potential candidates are not short on confidence and believe they can win wherever they coach. The school is looking at bringing in someone stable.

Of course ,I hope we can recruit a proven winner like Smart, Howland or Marshall. On the other hand if we recruit an up and comer, head coach or blue blood assistant, the world will not come to an end and the enthusiasm they bring to the job will be contagious. Who knows we may get someone that no one has mentioned, like Hubert Davis.

Remember, we still have a lot of very good players on this team and in the pipeline. The right guy will be able to put the pieces together in a way that Buzz couldn't .

Well put! With that I'm closing scoop for a while. I've hit refresh too many times in the last few days.

That's how normal people do it...not D-1 coaches.

Do you really think Buzz thought about the schools in Blacksburg?

Yes, absolutely.

Nobody likes to see how the sausage is made.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Ha ha. Beat me to it. These are not people, theses are basketball coaches. Being wired completely different from the rest of us is a prerequisite for the job.

I'm actually going to retract my previous post and add to it.

Buzz didn't have to find out about the schools, Va Tech provided that information. Told him the best schools and the details on it. Probably let him know it wouldn't be an issue to get the kids in whatever private school they would want.

And, I'll add .... finding a good school in a college town ain't all that hard. Those communities tend to be populated by people who understand the importance of education.

When I was with PepsiCo I toured a meat packing plant that supplied Pizza Hut...

My favorite, though, was in Seoul where Pizza Huts all had buffets. The food prep was done in a central commissary. I witnessed two Korean guys in hip waders finishing up a smoke/restroom break then proceed to climb straight back into a waist deep vat of spaghetti sauce. Bon Appétit!

Because Blacksburg Virginia is well-known for their schools. I'd say his wife was dying to livethere, in a city of 42,000 and a metro area 1/10 of that of Milwaukee. You couldn't pay me to live there. But, I'm sure Buzz had to beg her to give hm the green light to relocate. Yeah, right.

No one? You may want to reconsider that overgeneralization. Happens all the time--especially in sports.

These things all come into consideration. The weighting may differ by coach. I am sure all of the candidates have their own internal short list of schools that are no brainers to move to. To the extent that Marquette is a no brainer move and the candidate is on the top of our list it will happen quickly. If not the process will drag on.

Well, considering CW stated how much she hated winter, I'm sure these past five months didn't help.
