Golden Eagles Set To Host Northern State In Exhibition Sunday

Milwaukee - The No. 11/12 Marquette University men's basketball team will continue preparations for the upcoming 2007-08 campaign when the squad hosts Northern State in exhibition action Sunday night at 6 p.m. in the Bradley Center.

The Pepsi Season Opener is Nov. 10 versus IUPUI at 7:30 p.m. and marks the beginning of the regular season.

The Golden Eagles, ranked 11th in the preseason Associated Press poll released Friday, return all five starters from last year's NCAA Tournament team. MU is a consensus top-15 preseason selection and the roster features First Team All-BIG EAST selections Dominic James and Jerel McNeal.

Northern State, a NCAA Division II program located in Aberdeen, S.D., posted a 21-8 overall record in 2006-07 and was 13-5 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The Wolves are led by head coach Don Meyer, who is currently ranked fifth on the all-time victories list behind legendary head coaches including Dean Smith, Adolph Rupp and Bob Knight.

NSU's 2007-08 roster features nine returning letterwinners and five starters from last season. Junior Kevin Ratzsch has been tabbed a preseason All-America honoree by the Basketball Times and the Wolves were picked to finish second in the league.

Season ticket packages and five-game mini-plans are still available. For more information visit GoMarquette.com/tickets or call (414) 288-GOMU. Single-game tickets are now available as well for every game except Notre Dame and Georgetown, which are sold out. Five-game plans for both games are still available.

Couple items from that ..

Northern State .. I'll bet they are one of the tougher exhibition teams we've faced .. picked #2 in their conference .. they return 9 guys and all starters.

Anyone notice "Pepsi Season Opener" ? .. must be something from the lack of B&G sponsor games.

.. ND and GTown sold out.
