Just recd an email from MU with a "Battle if the Beaks" theme and a cool shield to go with it.  On my phone and unable to copy - I'm sure more than a few of you also recd and maybe can copy and paste it?  The beginning of the Omaha Jesuit rivalry!  (I don't count NYE game as the beginning of anything)

Includes St. John's too.

Also includes St. John's.  Hopefully the image I'm trying to attach shows up below...

Unless I'm misinterpreting this, is it just some sort of fancy glorified fundraiser?

Hmmmm.... The schools just wanting to wet (or is it whet?) their respective beaks?  And thanks jesmu.

One more reminder of a decision that was at once both insipid and craven.

The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Golden Eagles eat Bluejays.

Golden Avalanche, Hilltoppers, anything but Eagles

How is it that the jay looks more menancing than the eagle? Meh.

Cool idea if our logo/name didn't suck.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

Yeah--here we go again. Time to bring back Warriors.

Anyone else just get a robocall from Steve "The Homer" True on Battle of the Beaks?

I did. While I hate supporting the "beak",  a friendly competition like this is probably going to workout well for all three schools involved. No self respecting alum wantsto see their school lose.

Am I  missing something? I thought St. John's was the Red Storm. Now if that is a Louisville Cardinal, I get it.

For some reason they have a Red Bird as a mascot. It is just as lame as our Golden Eagle. Like Marquette, they ditched Native imagery.

I know most here already give plenty, but for those that don't...or haven't yet, we're trailing this thing to Creighton!  And appear to only have about 1.25% participation.  Even if we can't beat them on the court, we should be able to beat them in a fundraiser!

So, whip out that credit card and send Marquette a donation of as much or as little as you like.  No amount is too small.

Ari Gold

I got suckered in to this with the promise of a 3x5 flag.
also suckered into a monthly B&G donation... gotta get me some extra points

The student rep who called me was pretty rude.

I used to donate heavily.  I always earmarked my donation to either the head coach's salary or the college of engineering.   Then the Warrior was dropped.  Bring back the Warrior, and I bring back the $$$.

I prefer 'Warriors', but don't mind 'golden eagles'.

I do, however hate the logo and his stupid overbite.  Dentistry alums, can one of you help him out?

I miss the "regal eagle" of the late 90s/early 2000s

Hah, I always ignore their  calls and donate directly online.

Next year it's going to be the battle of the blue. That way they can have almost every school in the conference fighting over supreme bragging rights on who can throw more money at their school. The year after that will be the crusade of the Catholics and they'll guarantee spots in heaven for the alumni of the winning school.

77ncaachamps

I think the donation level of MU would be a lot higher if this team were doing better.
