IMO, Creighton has had a perfectly setup schedule to this point.  Other than Nova, they have had every good team at home.  Now they go to St. John's tonight.  Here is their remaining schedule:

@St. John's
@Butler
Home versus a pissed off Nova
@Marquette
vs. Seton Hall
@Xavier
@Gtown
vs. Providence (their only loss thus far)

I would not be surprised to see the Blue Jays go 5-3 the rest of the way.

Golden Avalanche

Not one of those games is scary for a squad led by an All-American. The only way CU loses this season is when they shoot under 30% from the perimeter, like against PC. Creighton can play average games and beat eight of the ten teams in this mediocre conference.

Hope you didnt have money on the game tonight.

Unfortunately, that result isn't a good thing for Marquette

Say more so I can directly counter.

Look at the numbers

With the win tonight and assuming they win the games they are supposed to per the RPI, they will finish with a 54, 20-11 record.

If they had lost tonight, and win those same games mentioned above, they finish with a 68 RPI and 19-12 record.

Who knows what will happen in the next 7 games, I'm merely going on what tonight's win meant to them if one were to take a snapshot and project their next games.

No - you're oversimplifying the RPI calculations.

Yes, a bit, but that's why I'm staying it the way I am.  Nothing happens in a vacuum, that I realize.  Other things going on so it is an over simplification, but it is not far off from the outcomes.  If you wish to clarify further, that's fine.

I did run my assumptions by a few folks who confirmed my approach with the noted caveats...of of them being a Purdue guy that is pretty good at the old RPI stuff.  Has a little gig with the EYE.  ;)

Like I wrote, only way CU loses in this conference is on a horrid shooting night. They had that at 23%. Even through that terrible performance, and throwing in a ridiculously terrible FT rate for them, Johnnies still needed the best defense they've ever played to squeak out a win.

That result actually reinforces my point that an average CU performance will beat every team in conference.

Ok.  Let me put in in your language then.  The Blue Jays will have enough below average performances that will cost them the BE regular season title.  Nova will take it.

Sounds good.

Bump.  That 5-3 prediction is looking good.  And that presumes the Blue Jays can take out Providence.

Nova proved to be the class of the league despite losing the series with Creighton.

Yep. Once you put it in the right language of Creighton having enough below average performances to lose the title, it made sense.

Nova takes the title having been swept by the only legitimate NCAA Tournament team in the conference. The joys of cannibalization.
