How can Jack Thomas not know to dribble to get fouled?  Is he that ignorant to hold the ball and ask the other team to get it?   Derrick Wilson is just terrible.

should have been a reach-in foul. cotton was just as surprised it wasn't called

Tugg Speedman

Maybe because he was hit in the face and was just trying to hold onto the ball.

Horrible no call.

Bad play with Wilson inbounding. He was only guy open for return and you can't get him the ball. Have to catch that pass on the move.

Mayo got a good look, but no legs left.  Unreal.

Why was derrick even in the game?

Rough year.  Call a TO or pass the ball! Hard to feel sorry for him. On the road one should know better.  Not a smart play period.

Are scoopers seniors in high school? Cause I assumed most of them were alumni. But most of them seem pretty catty

Disagree 100%.  That was not even close to being a foul, just a very good heads up play by Cotton.

I can't even get too mad at Jake for assuming he would be fouled and simply protecting the ball.  It was a mistake, but understandable in my eyes.

This was the only time where I can say that I was actually mad at a buzz decision.  Derrick Cant be the guy inbounding the ball, he just cant.

Derrick should not be on the court in a situation  like this.  I have to think Thomas is aware of Derrick's free throw % and would intentionally avoid passing it to him.  If Derrick inbounds it to Thomas, Derrick is one less person for Thomas to pass it to once he gets it.  This makes it harder to get rid of.

Derrick shouldn't have been in the game for the reason you stated, among others. KYP, Buzz.

I know I'm playing Monday morning QB here, but if you review the tape, Jamil and Davante virtually serve no purpose on the play. While I'd typically agree that you'd want the ball in your guards' possession, that's not necessarily the case with this team. I just find it unusual that there was no effort to locate Davante, who's our largest target, has tremendous hands, is second only to Mayo in FT% and draws more fouls than anyone on the team.

Further, Providence was overplaying both Jamil and Davante - why not send Jamil down court for the home run like we've done in the past? He didn't appear to be making an attempt to get open.

I'd love to see a replay but I couldn't find one quickly and I don't have time to look.

buzz does know his players, better than anyone, and i guarantee he thought about whether or not to have derrick in the game.  i would guess it's just stubbornness...probably the first season since he's been at MU that it hasn't worked to his benefit, but perhaps he's grown overconfident in his ways as he's been successful.  i'm really interested to see how he bounces back next year when we'll go back to playing more small ball.

as far as the person starting this thread questioning jake thomas playing like a senior in high school...like chris webber calling a timeout or what?  what a jack@ss thing to post.  maybe he made a mistake, but i'm willing to bet he has more basketball sense than you...or me.

College.

Yep. A 5th year senior in college. Seniors in high school aren't allowed to play on the collegiate level.
