As I said in some other thread somewhere, Derrick trapped really well last night.  Also, I truly believe that we don't beat Butler in the tourney last year without his defense.  Brad Stevens even acknowledged Derrick in the post game.  Derrick caused huge problems for Rotnei Clark and for that I am forever grateful to Derrick.

However, last night's game made it abundantly clear that Derrick is not able to handle 30+ minutes a game.

I know Buzz is aware of this, as he has told us that he is well aware of this, but he 'believes in people' and Derrick is 'his guy'.

That is admirable and all, but how much pressure does that put on a young man like Derrick?  I mean, I'm sure Derrick genuinely loves Buzz and appreciates the Buzz's gesture of sticking his neck out there for him, but at some point, he's got to feel A TON of pressure to prove that Buzz's decision is the correct one.

What did he say exactly? I don't remember him ever saying that Derrick couldn't handle 30 minutes a game.

However, it certainly looks like it is true. Unless you have a truly dominant PG, you usually don't see them getting 30+ minutes a game. Dawson passes the eye test for me to at least get backup minutes. I'd say 10-15 a game. I still think Derrick is better, but not for all 40 minutes. He gets gassed just like any other player. Plus, it is good strategy to throw different rotations at defenses to keep them off balance.

You're right, Buzz has never said this.  I meant Buzz has acknowledged that he (Buzz) is aware that many of us fans think that Derrick cannot handle 30 min/game.
