True or false?

Crean ran the offense through DJ.

Buzz ran the offense through Wes.

One true, one false.

True or false, many players that were not NBA type players after their junior years turned it on their senior year to get to the next level?

Of course that's true. When did I deny that?

And I guess we'll just have to disagree about Crean vs. Buzz when it comes to DJ and Wes. I wasn't even criticizing Crean. In my book DJ is a Marquette great. It would be like running an offense through D Wade vs. LeBron. Either way you are going to be successful. But Wes flourished under Buzz.

Indeed but Wes has said that he was underutilized under Crean. Buzz made him a much bigger part of the offense and he really was on a completely different level his senior year.

Under Crean, the offense was run through Dominic and Jerel (and of those two, really mostly Dominic). Wes was always the 3rd Amigo. That changed under Buzz.

Not saying one system was better than the other for MU, but Wes definitely benefited from Buzz's arrival. There is no denying that.

What Division I basketball player hasn't felt underutilized by their coach?

I'd imagine Doug McDermott has no qualms

I'm not criticizing them either.  My point is that Wes was a pretty good player already and he made a jump his senior year, as have countless seniors at MU and schools around the country.  He benefited from both coaches, as he stated a number of times

Wes did flourish under Buzz, question is would he have flourished under Crean?  We will never know.  Novak flourished his senior year under Crean, so did Diener, etc.  I'm always curious why the senior part is never part of the equation?

Where I think we disagree is that I don't believe Buzz ran his offense through Wes.  That was a really good team with some really good players.  Three guys averaged 16+ points if I recall and DJ was around 12.  Four guys in double figures, the offense had a lot of options and it my opinion they flourished because of what they could do as a team.

Perhaps we are splitting hairs, but I'm not denying there wasn't other talent, just a matter of who the stud was, and who was the floor leader. There is always that one guy who steps up into that leadership role.
