Buzz at Stevens Point-DC Everest game
« on: January 21, 2014, 10:20:31 PM »
My friend's uncle was at the SPASH-DC Everest game and snapped this pic of Buzz. I assume he was there to watch sophomores Trevor Anderson and Sam Hauser.

My friends sisters uncles girlfriends brothers wife said he saw Buzz at a gas station in Memphis. Probably recruiting Elvis.

I assume you're joking because you can see the logo at mid-court in the pic, but just to make sure because no teal

I realize it's his passion but he was in DC last night, red eyed back to Cream City, and is now up in northern WI in the dead of winter.

As a pilot I am used to skimming time zones but the schedule of a high major college basketball coach is daunting. I recall reading how these guys will visit 5-6 kids in different cities in a day. It's gotta take a toll emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Say what you will about these guys, but they earn their money.  They work hard.

and they take the brunt of criticism when 20 year old kids do not follow the scouting report.

At least the state of WI is producing high D1 talent now.  Image having to fly to Clovis NM last night.

Also, he has a plane, so he's probably in bed a hour or so after the game is over.

It's also part of his job and job security. Buzz needs to get in on kids early or risk obtaining lesser recruits. Best time to show your face is after a win. Oh and btw--he gets paid very handsomely to do his job-- this part included.

That's why his charter jet is so very important.  My sense is that's a privilege only a modest handful of coaches get.  He talked about it at length on MU Basketball Revealed.

Good point. I don't see the jet as a perk - more of a necessity for a guy who moves around as much as Buzz.

Saw Point play about 4 weeks ago. Anderson is 6-2 and really quick. Hauser is about 6-5 and a shooter. Was more impressed with Hauser, but consensus is Anderson is the better player. Both are sophomores. Coach of team I cover liked Anderson more than Flory (he played them back-to-back at Point's Christmas tourney). Team I cover plays Rapids again in about a month, only did their game against Point last month.

Always. The trick is getting them to stay here for college.

Yeah, because Jamil (went away, came back), Duane, Cohen, Fischer (see jamil) NN, Flory......nah, never mind.   Buzz recruits Wisconsin and has done well.  He isn't going to win every battle.   But he is doing just fine.

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Hear what you are saying but 2 million plus big ones eases the pain a bit. Beats sweeping gyms and cleaning toilets.

Many people put in schedules like that, whether with travel or just plain work hours.  He gets several million a year for his troubles, most would trade positions with him in a heartbeat.
