Those who advise us not to provoke Iran forget the lessons of history. Churchill didn't cause World War II----the appeasers of Nazi Germany did (guys like Neville Chamberlin).

So it's sad when you see a major US newspaper come out and suggest that we have more to fear from Cheney than we to from Iran's Ahmadinejad----but that's what the LA Times did in one of their weekend editorials. The article said that "Cheney's desire to bomb Iran was backfiring because it was escalating anti-US activity around the world".

Stop the presses!  Iran is already killing Americans with advanced explosives smuggled into Iraq----it is also the creator, banker, and armory for Hezbollah which kiled 280 some American marines some 20 years ago in Lebanon----in addition provoked a war with Isreal last year. Ahmadinejad says Isreal must be destroyed----is this all Chaney's fault?

Thw world should be thankful that the Israeli's disregarded the pacifist sentiment then contained in the present day montra of the LA Times 20 years ago when they took out Saddam's Nuke capability----can you imagine Saddam taking over Kuwait armed with Nukes? What stops him from moving right into Saudi Arabia and control the world oil supply?

Cheney & GWB are 100% correct------one way or the other Iran has to be prevented from acquiring Nukes!

I dont think the russians and chinese will allow for low IQ policy decisions any longer.  We have limited our military scalability with this Iraq fiasco and we need to keep the chinese happy due to high debt.

If we take out Iran's Nuke facilities, there isn't anything Russia or China can do about it. Actually they are better off without Iran having Nukes as this will set off a chain reaction where a lot of mid easter countries will work to acquire Nuke technology and Nukes will proliferate around the globe-----with the genie out of the bottle to that extent----Russia and China will be as vulnerable to to a terrorist suitcase bomb attack as we are----as both countries have their detractors!

Again mviale, you have to think of the LONG TERM consequences of no action here----you have trouble getting beyond immediate conflict (and I don't say that sarcastically in the least)!
