Marquette Continues Hectic Practice Schedule

Milwaukee - While the majority of the student body at Marquette University enjoys its Fall break, the men's basketball team has continued preparations for the rapidly-approaching 2007-08 campaign.

Saturday afternoon provided the first opportunity for the squad to conduct a workout at the Bradley Center and the coaching squad took advantage of the chance by putting the squad through a fast-paced practice. The two-hour session was capped with a victory by the "Gold" squad in a series of possession matchups. Junior guard sealed the victory with a steal reminiscent of the one he made last season to secure a last-second win at USF.

"I've never played on a court with the NBA 3-point line and it was fun to play on the Bucks' court," freshman guard Scott Christopherson said. "The first week has gone be really quick and it has been a big adjustment, but I knew it wasn't going to be like high school."

Special guests Saturday afternoon included former NBA head coach Del Harris.

"The opportunity to soak up what they are saying and apply it to your life and game is tremendous," Christopherson said. "Every day has been a learning experience."

Nearly 300 people attended the 2007 Marquette Basketball Tip-Off Dinner Friday night at Soldier Field in Chicago, including the entire Golden Eagle roster and coaching staff. John J. Smith hosted the event, which included dinner, a special guest and live auction, moderated by Crean.

The upcoming week includes continued practice sessions at the Al McGuire Center, BIG EAST Media Day Oct. 24 and the team's annual local media day Friday afternoon. Tickets are still available for the Blue & Gold Fund Fish Fry Oct. 26, which is followed by an open scrimmage.
