What happened between the akron players after the goal?

Don't know what happened, but Victor Souto was issued a red card after the match. He had to be dragged away by the Akron staff because he was screaming his head off at the officials.

yeah marquette got real lucky they didn't call a PK there. I'd say it was 65/35 a PK, but I was also rooting for Marquette.

I think Akron going down quickly and easily on contact all match long may have worked against them there. The referee was about 15 yards away and looking right at it when it happened, and he gave a big "NOPE" double arm swing to indicate that he did see it and wasn't going to call anything.

I noticed this too. The ref was right there, staring at the play and made an immediate decision.

+1.  Akron was flopping more than Suzy Favor Hamilton during a Las Vegas convention.

Any video of that play available? Didn't get to watch the game.

My daughter played in a premier tournament  where the opposing coach was warned several times about dives. he had a player, who went on to play at Santa Clara, of a certain common ethnicity as most of the refs here who got a lot of calls. The second she crossed into the box with the ball, she was head first going down with any kind of pressure. Anyway, after several warnings in the first, the second half began and one of his players took a dive. The ref immediately ran to the sidelines and red-carded the coach.

Since I share your location, I will agree with you that it happens here and often.  My son is in a premier tournament this weekend and we expect to see more than our fair share.  Since he is the keeper, it gets me nuts because then it is PK time.  It's funny when you play certain clubs from certain towns, you just know going in that its coming.  I've never seen a red card given to a coach for that, however.  I'd like to see it happen more often to stop the silliness.

As a former ref at the travel/club level, i threatened a few coaches with cards throughout my time, but not for diving. I had a strict policy against diving that I would inform both teams and head coaches pre-game and I'd inform my linesmen to assist me in making the determinations in-game as well.  I would warn players once. After that, the cards came out. It's deception, pure and simple. Once a player on a team gets a second yellow/red, you'd be shocked at how the players would suddenly be able to find their balance on nearly any tackle.

As well, I'm not sure on locations/towns, but it did seem prevalent in certain populations.

Like the Duke Blue Devils.

So who is the official winner of the Big East men's title?  Georgetown which tied with MU for the best Big East regular season record while beating MU head-to-head or Marquette which won the tournament, or both teams due to identical Big East regular season records?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Coleman

Id assume it's like basketball, they are regular season co-champs and MU is big east tourney champion

Correct. Marquette can claim double champion status.
