But Chicos, I have been told it isn't about the website, that she has no money to do a relaunch of a brand.  She must have finished shopping at IKEA for office furniture :)

Anyway...a good first step weeks late.  I like the integration of the site.  Now if I see an fully integrated marketing launch plan executed, I will take her off the cross.  Simple things, even without a big budget...like grabbing each school's or Ticketmaster's booster email lists to blast news, promote social, e-commerce in coordination with FS1 media, and other advertising and sponsorships.

The failure to have a fully supported launch results in your brand being half the share size of those who do.  You cannot make up for lost time, so right now is critical. Are there exceptions?  Sure, but few.

GGGG

I would lay the blame at the schools rather than Val.  They should have gotten the commish hired earlier.

All the kidding hyperbole aside on this topic, she was put behind the 8 ball by the schools.  No doubt.  But, it is nonsense she had to start from scratch...the old Big East administrative staff and the schools cleared many hurdles as well for her.

She chose to spend her August shopping her Ackerman Report to NCAA schools, and looking for office space as she stated versus obviously focusing on the relaunch plan. Grab some temporary shared office space in Mid-Town, grab your media partners, hire some agencies and get going.  Like I said before, I wasn't looking for perfect but I was looking for something.

Glad it is moving in the right direction...including that zip code channel locator for Fox Sports  :D

Huh?

The website was a bone of huge contention here.  It didn't have standings you know.  Val Ackerman took a lot of grief here as a result, as if the website was job 1.  It has been updated to include a lot of new things.  So Val, take those nails out and come down from that cross. You've earned a Fresca for the day.

She stated she had to do many things, she did not say all she did was look for office space. Plus, we get to read what the news decides to write, not necessarily everything she said.

Let's give some props to CBS Sports who apparently set the site up.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

TallTitan34

Sweet!  That temp site they had didn't have standings which is all I really wanted.

Outsourced....they do many individual team sites and conference sites, but the direction all comes to the conference.

It was never about the website. The website was indicative of the real problem. Like Blackheart said, we are still waiting for her Marketing Action Plan. An effective CEO would have had that out a long time ago.

I know a few blamed Val, but most (including me) thought it was the fault of the C7 schools.
The fact that she also continues to take heat for her "from scratch" comment is a bit silly. If you are in the top position and start your job with zero employees under you, then I would characterize that as starting from scratch, regardless of whatever conference framework was or was not already in place.

Always here to over-exaggerate a few threads and claim the mantel of victimhood. Seriously, you've been doing these ironic "I blame Val" posts for a few weeks not and no one's been biting. Done yet?

Chicos and I were just having some fun with each other. His original post is a couple of weeks old. Nice to see the Big East FINALLY getting their marketing resources pointed in the right direction, though.  I am predicting, however, that Staples will be a conference sponsor after all the office searching that went on.   ;)

Well that makes sense. God dammit.

I have heard of Mickey Mantle and Monastic Mantles but never the mantel of victimhood?

Is this the "Mantel of Victimhood?"
