Thank God Buzz danced on the WVU logo, and then mocked doing it at Madness this year.  That will end up being the one thing that keeps Texas from calling him home next year, as the WVU AD had to have been livid at the sickening act that Buzz Williams performed after their win over WVU.  How disrespectful of Buzz.  No way Luck would want Buzz leading his basketball program.

Am I right?

ChicosBailBonds

I don't understand why we need any saving grace.  Pilarz is gone, Buzz will stay as long as we have him, Texas is a football school, MU a basketball school, etc...why are you even remotely worried?

bilsu

I do not know if we need any saving grace. But if we do, it would be Diamond Stone committing to MU. Buzz would not go anywhere, if Stone was coming.

This thread was tongue in cheek.

Ummm.....because even when Tom Crean had the perfect administration set up with Wild and Cords, he left MU for Indiana (a state that he isn't even from.)  And let's face you have long been beating the drum here about how deep pocketed and powerful UT is with The Longhorn Network, endowment, alums, etc...so yeah...even though Buzz had said at one point he'd stay as long as MU would have him (which btw you have posted here probably over 200 times in the last 2 years as both Chicos and Hoopaloop)...it is a little concerning if the UT job opens up.  Let's face Austin, TX versus Milwaukee, WI are totally different on the hierarchy of appeal for places to live...and recruit to..

Sounds like you are nervous.

200 times, did you count them?

Steve Patterson got the job as Texas AD, by the way. He is currently the AD at Arizona State.

Why don't you comment on what I actually wrote - oh...let's see...because you know damn well UT would be near impossible for a native Texan to turn down given everything I wrote - even though Buzz said at one point he'd be here as long as we'd have him.  The fact the AD (Cottingham) that took a chance on him at MU is no longer here, does lessen the degree and sense of obligation/gratitude/loyalty.  In the event Buzz were to leave MU, I suspect he'd do it with much more honor, grace and class than did his predecessor - who ultimately left for a better job at one of the blue blood hoops school.  Don't blame TC for leaving, only for how we went about it.

But no, I didn't count how many times you've made the stupid comment "Buzz will stay as long as we will have him."  Yet, a good and reasonable guess is roughly 200 times.  Kind of like your 5 year rule on evaluating a coach...how did that turn out for you?

By the way, Patterson was born in Wisconsin, but he is a Longhorn all the way.  Undergrad and law school.  He was with the Rockets and Aeros for a number of years in Houston.  Also worked for the Texans.

Smart guy, this is definitely his dream job.

If Buzz leaves, he leaves.   It is what it is.  Next guy in if that's the case.  Hopefully it isn't, but the end of the world isn't going to happen if it does.

Ironic...if you actually read what I WROTE over the years, you would know that's not what I said about the 5 years.  I said FULLY evaluate, but you can evaluate all you want during the time period and said so far so good.  You can count the number of times.

You're right, UT would be tough to turn down.  That's why it always amazes me that people believe what coaches say.  Having said that, maybe Buzz is different and for now, all I can do is believe him until he gives me a reason not to believe him...at that point many will then start with the nonsense that it was Pilarz fault, or Larry's, or someone on a message board.

You have a very good memory.  I wasn't aware of it, but found that info in his obit.  It would explain why his son was born in Beaver Dam.

If Texas would offer a million $ more than MU per year,  that would be hard to turn down wouldn't it? Hope Buzz stays a long time at MU.

A bunch more? Nah, around 7% more. COLA might be even more beneficial.
