2015 PG Glynn Watson
« on: October 28, 2013, 11:00:50 PM »
Roy Schmidt tweeted we offered and Watson was also at Midnight Madness

http://twitter.com/prepbullseye

Glynn also tweeted it earlier tonight

according to Scout, Glynn is a 4-star point guard.  Currently the 6 ranked PG.  He has offers currently from Purdue, Creighton and now MU.

This one confuses me. If you have Noskowiak locked up in that same year, why spend any time on other PGs? By the time Watson would hit campus we would already have Du Wilson, Dawson, Noskowiak, and Cohen he could all play the 1. Seems a little crowded to me.

A couple weeks ago, we thought the front line might be a bit crowded this season...then McKay left.  That leaves us one injury away from being too thin up front.  You just never know....

I too think that another point guard recruited on the same year with yet other quality points already on board seems a bit of an overkill. Maybe time spent on recruiting another big would be time better spent.

It is easier to make wings out of PGs than PGs out of wings.  PGs who can shoot and play D are among the best things you can have.

Good point. Watson is only 5'9 though, so he might have trouble playing a wing position if he doesn't grow. Of course, Noskowiak, Wilson, and Dawson are taller so they could play a wing position if Watson is on the floor.

Yup.   A year from now, will anyone blink if DuWilson, Dawson and Cohen are on the floor at the same time?   Nope.   6'3, 6'4, 6'5, all with PG skills.   No one will be able to press MU, that is for sure.

I really like the idea of having a speedy point available, even if undersized.  Quick, who can shoot it, handle it, and get up on people on defense.  We've had so many that fit that bill.  Can't be the main guy at point or we need someone with some size, but I wish we had an Acker type this year at the point.

I'm tired of points who cannot shoot it or break down a defender and find the open man. Gotta be able to shoot it to open up the other players and the middle.

Will Gates!  Now there is an example of a PG converted to a wing.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I covered St. Joseph's several times last year and don't recall thinking at the time that Glynn was a player that MU would necessarily be pursuing.  I would guess he has grown a bit and had a really good season with his AAU team.
I checked the stats from the games I saw him play.  He did not light it up, but seemed to have a knack for scoring late in close games, even with good upperclassmen on the floor.

William Gates' son was on the St. Joseph sophomore team a few years back, but he did not play varsity there last season.
