I didn't copy the video clips. Nice spotlight.

When you're on a team for six years at the college level, it feels like a lifetime to those who've watched you course through that career.

But I can't ever remember a program giving an active player an award like the one Marquette bestowed to Chris Otule at the team's Midnight Madness event Friday night: a Lifetime Achivement Award handed out by Golden Eagles coach Buzz Williams.

Otule earned the recognition because of all he's gone through. As you can see in the video above, he's an eminently likeable kid, one who's spirits always seem to be up. Yet he's gone through a hell of a time at Marquette, enduring an ACL tear, two broken feet and a broken leg. He's also blind in one eye.

"Thank you for being supportive throughout all my injuries," Otule told the crowd Friday night. Otule's averaged 4.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in his five-year career, the first two of his seasons combining for 85 total minutes on the floor before injuries forced him away.

Wiliams took four minutes to describe his relationship and pride with Otule, telling the Marquette crowd that, among all other things he may be remembered for, he wants to be known as Otule's coach. Good speech hear by Buzz, who can hold court like few other coaches in the game.

We're gonna make this a rare three-video post by including the Marquette introductions, which were pretty well done. In our matrix of predictions for every conference in the country, MU swept the Big East for the forecast of league champ.

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Also a good message for the recruits/family in attendance to hear. ;)

I thought that was an onion headline at first. They really gave him a lifetime achievement award? And not as a good-natured joke? Buzz's speech sounds pretty good, as usual,  but the whole concept still sounds a little bit silly to me.

EDIT: I watched that video, and now all I think is how awesome Chris Otule is and that I want to play for Buzz Williams.
