By those rankings they think the Big East looks like this:

1: Marquette
2-5: Clusterfauk
6: Xavier
7: Providence
8: Butler
9: Seton Hall
10: Depaul

I'm inclined to agree. Only changes I would make is that Creighton will emerge as a solid number 2 this season, maybe even contend with us. And I think Providence is better than Xavier and belongs in the cluster. They will surprise people this season

INCLUDING DOUG GOTTLIEB!!!!

/Wait a minute, is that a bad sign?

/Do you think that Jon Rothstein knows that Bo has never finished less than fourth in the Big Ten?

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Those pics are awesome. Parrish's and Borzello's pics have to be a good 10 and 5 years old, respectively.

The "nice" thing about the BEast is that Providence and Seton Hall have both gotten some good pledges for next season. Would be nice to have great balance in the conference.
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

Yeah, this is a new feeling. I'm used to getting picked 7-9 and complaining we're at least 3-5.

Buzz wants his players to play wirth a chip on their shoulder. I not sure being picked first helps that attitude.

There's enough skepticism of the New Big East to provide that chip on the shoulder.

Maybe 02-03? Or would losing Cordell Henry be enough of a knock?

Begs the question, has MU EVER been a preseason pick to win its conference?

Few notes:

I'm taking Gottlieb's Big East prediction. SJU puts it all together this year.

Check out the Big Ten, pretty tight picks there through 8.

Norlander's a ND homer, so he would pick them 2nd in the ACC.

Good to see Dayton's looking at another mediocre season in a crapty conference. ABD.

I agree about Creighton.  Surprising to see that one guy has them picked as low as 7th.  Hard to imagine them anything lower than third or maybe fourth at the worst....

Five losses in the MVC last year, and that was with Echinique. I don't agree with the idea, but I see where they're coming from.

And their FG shooting %'s were stupid high last year. eFG%, 2FG%, 3FG%, all ridiculous. Still have great shooters, but it's unreasonable to expect them to shoot as well in 2013-14.

Plus Creighton is going to end the calendar year on a very sour note and may struggle to pull themselves up once the new year arrives.

Love seeing us at the unanimous #1 even though it makes me a bit nervous.  Also great to see the balance in 2-5.  This will be a fun year.

I didn't think Novak would increase his FT% (.905), FG% (.457) and 3FG% (.461) after his junior year, especially with losing Diener and moving from CUSA to the BE...yet they all went up as a senior.  Sometimes great shooters just shoot great....

Echinique was the only significant loss to their squad. They will be better this year than last year.

I did. Some of Creighton's players are exceptional shooters - I just would put money on the team not shooting as well in 2013-14. $$$$$$$$$$$

Novak - yes, he did shoot 46.1% 3FG as a junior and then improved to 46.7% as a senior.. but you'd want to recall that as a freshman (more than 100 attempts) he shot 50.5%.

A difference for Novak was also that he was afforded the ability to be a more limited usage guy (actually DROPPED his senior year as compared to Jr and So seasons), whereas a guy like McDermott is more than shooting specialists on offense.

Also, Creighton's numbers required great performances from numerous players.

I'm comfortable projecting Creighton's eFG% to drop this year. $
