Sounds like we have zero credits going forward--they're all staying with the old Big East.

"The units of the three teams joining the conference will stay with the conferences they’re representing now (the Atlantic 10 and Missouri Valley), while the units of the New Big East teams, as well as the units of the four Old Big East teams moving to the ACC (Notre Dame, Syracuse; Pittsburgh in 2013, and Louisville in 2014), will stay with the Renamed Big East conference teams."

Notwithstanding any implication in the article, I don't believe that to be entirely true.

And by the way, "Hey Georgetown!  How 'bout a little thank you for the national power that's carrying your lame @ss?"  "You're welcome."

I thought the same thing Mr. Warriorchick.

Can someone educate me, does Marquette keep the cash they make from the tournament credits or any of it?  Or does the credit money go to the whole conference?

Yeah .. that's why I said "wherever they (the credits) go .."

.. Interesting that .. if you can put together 80 minutes of good basketball, it can pay for a ~third of your program.

Under the old model, we split all NCAA credits evenly. I imagine it will stay that way going forward, though that will be a change for Xavier, who kept the lion's share of their earned credits.

It goes to the conference and then gets distributed.  But what's not appreciated in the article is the negotiated 'cutoff' point separating 'Old' from 'New'.  I have reason to believe that 2013 was not necessarily headed to 'Old'.  Remember the $100MM pool? That's before this year.

So bottom line..... Georgetown needs to assume the Kevin Bacon position in Animal House.

A big part of the C7's negotiation was that the C7 schools retain their credits.  Multiple sources have reported that the C7 is indeed retaining its credits.

Remember the whole thread on why it was in Butler's best interests if MU won.  That wasn't just Warriorchick's, Brew77's and Benny's speculation... prominent MU figures were also (tongue-in-cheek, of course) saying the same thing.

But the article is correct that the actual credits themselves will stay with the legal entity known as the old Big East (aka the American); however, there will probably be some sort of contractual obligation whereby the American will reimburse the Big East for the C7's credits earned pre-split.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.
