Big East and JUMP TV
The Sports Business Daily and the SportsBusiness Journal are reporting that the Big East Conference has formed a partnership with JumpTV.

JumpTV To Produce Big East's Web Site

JumpTV Inc. and the Big East Conference have struck a new multi-year pact in which the Orlando-based online video outfit will design and power the organization's newly expanded video content portal, located at BigEast.TV. JumpTV, which in July purchased the broadband business of XOS Technologies for $60.25M, will produce the conference's entire Web site at BigEast.org. But the centerpiece of that effort will be the branded online video channel, marking the first BCS conference to align itself in this fashion with JumpTV.

Also in the works for BigEast.org are an official online photo store and auction offerings. The Big East had been producing its online content with CSTV Online for more than two years, but selected JumpTV after an extensive RFP process. Aiding the new structure will be the Big East's new six-year TV contract with ESPN in which the conference retained extensive digital rights for itself once ESPN's live broadcasts conclude. "We weren't unhappy with CSTV, but right now, this relationship better matches up with what our vision is and where we intend to go," said John Marinatto, Big East Senior Associate Commissioner.

I just hope that it means more video broadcasts on-line.  Any word on that?  I read somewhere that another BE school is able to put all their non-ESPN broadcasts online for their fans.  I think even USF did it last year.  Why can't we?

Are u sure about that? I think ESPN owns the rights to every Big East game -- at least conference games, even if they dont televise them

I watched the USF-MU game over the net last year no problem.   I will try to find the article but i think it was Providence who will broadcast all non-ESPN games over the net.

USF was somehow able put their jumbotron broadcast on the net.  So, you got some of the stupid "fire up" graphics during game play.  But not bad.

I can't find the article but the gist was something like this.  There was a new deal between ESPN and the Big East which only allows ESPN to have the broadcast rights for the games it actually broadcasts.  All other broadcast rights revert to the school, i.e., for all non-ESPN games, espeically the non-conf schedule.  The school in question was taking those games and offering them as a package to their fans through the internet for a fee.  I thought that the terms of the new ESPN deal was common knowledge.  I should've posted it here immediately when I read that.  Sorry.

USF-MU was not on ESPN360.

ESPN owns the rights to every live broadcast of every intra-conference Big East matchup (escluding those CBS selects).  Every Big East game should be available live in one ESPN medium or another (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN U, ESPN Classic, or ESPN360).  Once the live broadcast is over, the schools have rights to the video footage, so the deal with JumpTV will be to produce highlight reels and other advertising.  At least that is how I have understood the deals.

Here is an excerpt from the article:

In Men's Basketball:

• ESPN and ESPN2 will telecast a minimum of 60 games each year, which includes 49 regular season and all 11 games of The BIG EAST Championship Presented by Aeropostale. The 49 regular season contests include 41 conference contests and eight non-conference home games.
• The BIG EAST has always enjoyed tremendous exposure on ESPN and its family of networks. The new deal brings even more. ESPN, Inc. will produce 139 of the 144 regular season conference games. The five remaining games will be carried by CBS. • ESPN Regional will carry 66 games and continue its weekend Game of the Week package which reaches approximately 30 percent of the nation's homes and has a total household reach of more than 30 million. Most games offered by ESPN Regional are also available nationally as part of ESPN Full Court, the pay subscription college basketball outer-market service.
• ESPNU or ESPN 360, the network's customized broadband service, will carry 30 games.
• ESPN or ESPN Regional also will produce a minimum of 22 non-conference home games.
• The BIG EAST will continue its regular appearances on ESPN's Big Monday.
• The BIG EAST Championship Presented by Aeropostale remains the only conference basketball postseason tournament to have every game televised nationally. Last March, the BIG EAST title game between Syracuse and Pittsburgh had a 2.58 rating, the highest rated cable tournament final in 2006.
