You guys should try it.  We have our draft tonight.  You draft 6 players.  You are awarded the points they score in the tournament games.  Person with most points wins.  Key is to get players that will score a lot in as many games as possible.  That sometimes requires not drafting a stud from same Gonzaga if you think they crash and burn in the Sweet 16 and going after the 5th or 6th best scorer for a team you think will go all the way.

Been doing this for a number of years with the guys at ESPN.

I do one but we draft 10 players.  Definitely makes me pay attention more to other games.

Did the same pool with fellow CBOE traders from the late 80s til maybe 10 years ago, though we drafted 8. As you say, the question was always whether to buy volatility (22 ppg scorer from a 7 or 10 seed) or take the number 3 or 4 scorer on a high seed in those mid to late rounds. Great fun.

I remember doing something similar in my younger days. Unfortunately, I was in a pool with lowly MU students and alums, not prestigious ESPN employees.

Glad I wasn't the only one that enjoyed the extra little morsel of info.

I've been doing this with my friends for 6 years now. I don't even bother filling out brackets anymore. Player pools are just much better IMO. It's a 16 person league so you really have to go deep into rosters. I've won twice so I've got bragging rights over all of them and let them know it every year around this time.

My team this year....

Seth Curry
C.J. Fair
James Southerland
Mark Lyons

You can't get any lower than ESPN employees....I thought you would get that one.
