FWIW, the eye test says the best team in the league is Louisville.   

+1000. Louisville is IMO the best team. After that it's a mosh pit that includes GTown, Pitt, Syracuse, ND and us. Villanova, Cincy, UCONN and Providence aren't far behind.

Far from ringing "hollow", winning under these circumstances should be celebrated as an incredible accomplishment. In our first six years of Big East play we never finished higher than 4th. Backing up a 2nd place season with a totally unexpected championship in the final season of the most storied league in college basketball history would be, after our FF appearance in 2003, our greatest feat since 1977.
