Should be a pick 'em game Saturday.  Take MU.

wardle2wade

I'm guessing they put MU -1.5 (MU favored by 1.5.)

MUMountin

Should be a great game on Saturday, and in many ways, is a "no lose" situation--it is a road game against a team that is fighting for its NCAA life.

Obviously a W is great, but a L will be chalked up to playing a tough 'Nova team that has already beaten 'Cuse and the 'Ville at home.

Not to mention that if we are going to drop a road game, I'd prefer it to be to another C7 member who would likely get on the good side of the bubble b/c of it.

That said--would love to get that third road W before a big week at home!

If ranked Marquette beats unranked but favored Nova does that constitute an upset?

By the reckoning of some here it does.

Yes, based on the lines set in Las Vegas that is considered an upset.

But if you're not a gambler...?

Anyone that knows anything about college basketball would know MU beating Nova would NOT be an upset. People want to say it would be because it makes for a good story and some MU fans seem to crave the "underdog" mentality and think MU isn't very good, and every win is "david slaying Goliath", but that just isn't true. MU beating Nova should be expected. If they drop this game with all that will be at stake then I will be incredibly disappointed. Win this one and beat Cuse and quite frankly, they are in the drivers seat for the BE title. They'd control their own destiny.

I want this quote to serve as a reminder to the vast majority of scoop posters in regards to the MU BB program.

Vegas hasn't really liked Marquette this year.

They were a 1.5pt underdog at home to Pitt last weekend.  I'd imagine they'll be an underdog again on Saturday.

WellsstreetWanderer

Vegas is just trying to get the Milwaukee Burghers to loosen up some money with the odds.

Not to be a downer, but MU has never won at the Pavillion.

Not looking good for MU from a history stand point.

How many games have we played there as opposed to their NBA arena?

I thought our win at Villanova last year was at The Pavilion

Edit:  nm, I was wrong

They were 1-0.  The lone win was against amid-major czarist Russian program.  Not a good analogy.

no one knows more about college basketball than the vegas lines, and if they are giving nova the edge, it makes it an upset to see mu win, imho.

MU should ALWAYS be the underdog.

They play best that way. Usually.

2-0.  Doesn't make it any less true.  I'm willing to bet Nova wins.  Then a tough game against Cuse monday, we could easily slip and be 10-6.

I hope i eat crow, but i have a feeling Nova wins by 6

Vegas disagrees with you. MU +1.5. Looks like we are the underdog after all.

It is Vegas, not ESPN/USA Today and other rankings who determines which games will be 'an upset'.  If a team beats a favored team........that is an upset.
