Two away games against SH/Rutgers coming up and some may say they are the trap games.

Rutgers loses Eli Carter, their leading scorer for the year.
SH loses one of their forwards, Mobley for the year.

What's Seton Hall's overall injury situation look like since they were down to 7 scholarship players when we played them in Milwaukee?

Seton Hall (13-13, 2-11) has now lost seven games in a row for the first time since 2002, and is in second-to-last place in the Big East.

The Pirates have had to deal with several injuries this season. Forward Patrik Auda was lost after just five games with a broken bone in his foot. Swingman Brian Oliver also sat out the Syracuse game with what Willard called a "self-proclaimed" ankle injury. He is out indefinitely.

"It's one of those amazing injuries that when a game appears, it kind of goes away and feels really good, and when practice appears it really hurts," Willard said of Oliver's injury. "We do have the New England Journal of Medicine coming to study him, because they wanna know how that's possible. It's quite amazing."

Who knows what is going on at SHU? It would be nice to see a great MU effort against SHU to back up what we saw on sat!

Was he serious about the ankle injury where it hurts in practice but not in games or was that a joke? Sounds like the kid doesn't want to practice to me.

is anyone else concerned about the status of the C7 cellar dwellers, especially Seton Hall and DePaul? Quite frankly more than half of our new conference is perennial underachievers who will only cheapen the equity in our new brand. I think Seton Hall needs to get up off its wallet and hire The Screamin' Calabrian, PJ Carlesimo. Carlesimo is a career NBA assistant living right there in NYC. His greatest success was with the Hall. Why not come back and see if he can restore the luster to their program. It could be a great way to cap off his career rather than continuing on as a career asst and occasional "interim" head.

Yes, because 5 of the 7 worst teams in the Big East currently are also members of the C7. At the same time, we're stuck with them. So like you point out, we have to hope that they can turn things around quickly.

If the new league includes Creighton, X, and Butler, the top half of the league looks pretty respectable. If we could add Gonzaga, ND, Louisville and another B1G in addition to UW for our OOC games on a regular basis we could have a decent strength of schedule. I can remember playing Minnesota, Michigan and MSU during the Al era.

It's much the same as it was then but don't forget that if not for Teague missing seven wide open bunnies, Hall would've won the game. Even on a terrible losing streak where they've been whipped physically, they may still feel they can beat Marquette.

Brian Oliver was a highly recruited guy out of HS who went to Georgia Tech.  He wore out his welcome there, and had to transfer to Seton Hall.  Evidently, he didn't learn much from that experience.

One of the best games of Al's last season was against Minnesota. The Gophers went 24-3 that year with two of their losses coming against top-ranked Michigan. They had Mychal Thompson, Kevin McHale, Ray Williams, Osbourne Lockhart, and Flip Saunders. Minnesota came into the Arena undefeated and ran out to a 20 point lead. Marquette, led by Butch Lee, came roaring back in the second half and took the lead but ended up losing. Minnesota was a great team and would have competed for the title but were ineligible for the Tournament because of sanctions from Bill Musselman's tenure as coach.

Depaul, Providence, Seton Hall and St. Johns to an extent... yes.  The Storm and the Pirates at least have been bubble teams of recent, but aren't scaring a lot of teams nationally.  Nova should not be lumped in with those teams.  They're a consistent program over the past decade. 
If I had to bet on which one of the other four was going to step out of the shadows....... that would be a really tough call.....

I'll take a shot:  first St. John's then Providence.  DePaul needs changes.

I think both SJU and Providence are on the upswing. 

Lavin is doing well at St. John's, and I'm hopeful they can sneak in as a bubble team this year.  They're a pretty young team, and should be a tourney team next year.   

While Providence's recent run is most likely too little, too late under Cooley for this season, they've got some good talent (only Council is a senior this year) and hopefully a tourney team next year. 

Add those two to MU, G'town, and a hopefully resurgent 'Nova, and you've got 5 of 7 teams hopefully playing in the NCAA next year, en route to the inaugural season of the new conference.  Not too bad.

Depaul and SHU are both a little further away.

Every game is a trap game for everyone this year. Like our chances but will be happy game by game this season.
