I spoke with someone in the AD on Friday and they mentioned that there's a good possibility that the Men's bball team will be conducting an open practice in the Chicago area on the same day (or same weekend) as the tip-off dinner on 10/19...anyone else hear anything similar?

The same person told me that MU was in discussions to play in a tournament to be held at the Sears Centre next season in Hoffman Estates, IL that should involve some other "big names."  I thought I remember that being mentioned here before...but thought that was interesting.

Interesting about the practice.

I had mentioned a while ago that I thought MU would wind up in the Chicago Invitational Challenge next season. For selfish reasons, I'd love to see MU in this tourney since the Sears Centre is 10 minutes from my house. I don't know about other "big names" being involved. Last year's field (headlined by Illinois) and this years field (headlined by Indiana) leave a little to be desired. Hopefully if MU is in it next year, the field starts to get stronger.

Wasn't there a tournament called "The Great 8" in Chicago? Maybe this is somewhat a resurrection of it.

Back in the late 90's, there was the Direct TV Great 8, which tried to bring back the Elite 8 teams from the previous years tourney and play a one and done game against another team from that previous years Elite 8. The Chicago Invitational is a true tourney.
