Is there a paint touches article that lists those nine unique statistics?

MU Wins War of Attrition

A Big Man's Game:  The impact of The Big Sheesh and CO may not show up directly in some of these stats.  The fact is, the size (height and width) of these two as space eaters is still vastly underrated when considering...

  • MU has fouled out at least one opposing player in 59% of its games, almost all are bigs
  • MU has drawn at least four fouls on one player in 89% of its games, with the two exceptions being blow outs versus Florida and Miss. State
  • 15 opposing players have fouled out.  18 others have had four fouls for a total of 33 limited by foul trouble, or 33 in total. Again, almost exclusively bigs.
  • In comparison, MU has had only three disqualifications: TL vs. Butler and Jamil vs. Pitt and UC

Go to War with a Bigger Army:  MU's plug and play depth, especially with a slew of frontline height, is really the story here.

  • Opponents played an average of 9.4 players vs. MU.  MU has played 15% more at 10.8 against them
  • The combination of drawing more fouls, especially versus the bigs, and MU's ability to overwhelm with quality depth really defines this team.

With the Midgets, the key to that team was to cause uptempo on both offense and defense and win with threes as there was no height.  Opponents tried to "slow that team down to break them down" because of the match-up height and depth.  This year's version of Buzz Ball is predicated on MU's ability "to slow them down to wear them down".  That is the mastery of the Buzzman.
