OK, a win is a win, ugly or not.  First half was terrible for both teams and second half until the four minute mark was pretty good basketball.

At four minute mark, MU was up 45-42 with the ball and could have extended.  Here is a breakdown of MU possessions:

- Shot clock down to zero, miss
- Shot clock down to zero, miss
- Shot clock down to zero, violation
- Junior breakaway layup, awesome block.
- Gardner, one free throw made.
- Blue pass turnover for Georgetown layup
- Gardner, one free throw made
- Blue offensive foul, with 4 seconds on shot clock and out of a MU timeout.
- Gardner, two free throws made
- Lockett miss free throw, then intentional miss.

In last four minutes, MU did not score a fg and Gardner made four free throws for all the MU final points.

Just unreal, but the team pulled it out on great defense in that timeframe and a gift missed free throw by a 62% free throw shooter.  Thank goodness Starks wasn't fouled.  2-0 start is very nice.

LA

Cardiac Kids 2.0. This team reminds me of the 09-10 team, pulling buzzer beaters out of their arse.

Doubt we'll have many games with a margin larger than 5.

To be fair - why not post the last 4 minutes on defense as well? At least until the final few seconds...

But I think it points up the fact that you need to run your offense early against Georgetown before their defense is set

Well, I was fair as indicated at the bottom of the post, that the team pulled it out on the defensive end.  Just wanted to display that the offensive execution in the last four minutes was non-existent, but the team pulled it out, regardless of the offensives woes.

For the first 15 minutes of the half, they did a good job getting JWilson looks inside the zone.   Not once in the last 5 minutes did he even go to the spots where he had been hitting the shots.   Buzz didn't change the attack, JWil quit going.

If the guy is a 62% FT shooter for the year and made the 1st 2 then how is the missed 3rd a "gift?" Correct me if I'm wrong, but 2/3 = 66.7%???? He did exactly what his percentage suggests he would have done. Is that really a gift? I'd Novak was shooting them then...

bingo!
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Was wondering why they didn't go back to that more, didn't pay close enough attention to see that Jwil quit exploiting it, that makes more sense.

Dr. Blackheart

MU did not score a bucket in the last seven minutes.

I wasn't saying you were wrong - just making a point about both defenses. This game was a perfect example of why tempo is so important. In those last 4 minutes, specifically, MU tried to use all of the clock and as your list pointed out, that played directly to GU's strength
