BEast Schedule
« on: January 03, 2013, 02:26:25 PM »
The next 3 Saturdays in a row we have games against Top 25 teams.  And that's not even to mention future games against now #4 Louisville, #7 Syracuse, and #21 Notre Dame.  I'm gonna miss this insanity when it's gone.

Now let's go take care of business!

I agree on enjoying BE action while we got it. Time to enjoy big time basketball over the upcoming weeks. Hope we are ready for it.

Of course, we are...until a loss, that is.

I am going to enjoy regardless of an ugly loss or a blowout to top team. We joined BE for top level competition and we got it.

Well, if you look to who the rumors are that the C7 could add, the new league schedule could include:

#10 Gonzaga*
#15 Georgetown
#16 Creighton*
#17 Butler*

Based on last season, the league could include (final AP rankings and NCAA bids):

#11 Marquette (NCAA Sweet 16)
#13 Georgetown (NCAA 2nd Round)
#17 Creighton (NCAA 2nd Round)*
Xavier (NCAA Sweet 16)*
Gonzaga (NCAA 2nd Round)*
St. Louis (NCAA 2nd Round)*
VCU (NCAA 2nd Round)*

From 2011:

#18 St. John's (NCAA)
#20 Xavier (NCAA)*
Butler (NCAA Runner-Up)*
VCU (NCAA Final Four)*
Marquette (NCAA Sweet 16)
Gonzaga (NCAA 2nd Round)*
Georgetown (NCAA)
Villanova (NCAA)

From 2010:

#9 Villanova (NCAA 2nd Round)
#11 Butler (NCAA Runner-Up)*
#14 Georgetown (NCAA)
#22 Gonzaga (NCAA 2nd Round)*
#25 Xavier (NCAA Sweet 16)*
Marquette (NCAA)

And from 2009:

#10 Gonzaga (NCAA Sweet 16)*
#11 Villanova (NCAA Final Four)
#20 Xavier (NCAA Sweet 16)*
#22 Butler (NCAA)*
#23 Marquette (NCAA 2nd Round)
Dayton (NCAA 2nd Round)*

Probably not as powerful a lineup as the Big East, but not too shabby.

Hmm. Not too shabby at all. Just not a lot of nationally recognized programs which is what it takes to draw tv interest. Xavier vs. Butler may very well be a great game but it wont generate a national audience just as SJU vs. PU doesnt.

And you said "probably not as powerful a lineup as the Big East" as though there is some doubt in your mind. There should be no doubt.

Speaking of C7, any acknowledgment by Marquette for Georgetown sticking together through this whole thing, at the game?  Maybe an announcement before the game?

Hoya fan here.  Been lurking on the board for a while.

We released the same statement as the the other six schools, why would we need to reaffirm it?  Plus where are going to go?  The ACC is not interested.

I'm not sure what that would accomplish.  Now if we can get The Domer and Georgetown's AD to walk out of the tunnel holding hands or something, I'd be on board just for hilarity's sake.
