New Republic, a left leaning  journal admits that they published false stories about US troops playing soccer with dead skulls, etc and used a Private to write the stories to provide authentication.

Private Beauchamp's claims were claimed to be BS in his original Baghdad Diaries but New Republic published anyway.  He finally got caught in his latest story entitled "Shock Troops", after it was published of course.

Apparently the New Republic did not feel it necessary to double check sources and authenticate the ridiculous claims.

Apparently the New Republic also forgot about Steven Glass, who pulled the same crap with the New Republic some time ago.

I've been a subscriber to New Republic for a long time, to take in other opinions, etc.  I called today to raise holy hell and they were being hit hard by this.  Glad to see it.
