Against Butler they were down by 26 at one point.
Tonight against IU they were down by 28 at one point

Has UNC ever trailed by 25 or more twice in a week before?

Right now UNC is not good.  They will probably not be ranked soon.

Yes, they could be good by March.  But, they are not now.

We would have beaten UNC in a very close game, damn you Butler.

I'd love to be above the influence, but it's too tempting and I want to beat everyone to it...

Who's ready for a celebration similar to winning the National Championship?

4everwarriors

Did the students, led by Coach Crean, storm the court?

This is why I wanted UNC so bad. I thought we had a really good chance to win Maui. Butler was definitely the next tougest team there, but they were spent after two emotional and exhausting games, while Illinois basically put it on cruise control from day one.

I do not think UNC is very good right now. However, I think you are vastly overrating MU. We are 5-1 and unless we improve significantly we will have a hard time winning more than 14 games. There are not many easy games left on our schedule.

I'm sure you weren't one of the many people who said we weren't ready to play UNC, we would've gotten run out of the gym.

Disagree because this team is going to mature a lot this year. You can see it already, as Vander, Jamil, Gardner, and Otule are showing vast signs of improvement. Lockett is settling in more and more and Anderson has been a solid bench contributor. Almost everyone has a new role and is adjusting to it. This team will be noticeably different by the time March rolls around.

I think this may well be the best team Buzz has coached. They aren't there yet, but they have more upside and star potential than any team he's had, and I truly think that includes the Amigos senior season, especially if Todd gets back for the Big East season.

GGGG

Indiana looked really, really good.  That was the best performance by any team that I have seen this year.  They can score from anywhere on the floor.

One thing to keep in mind:

Buzz doesn't necessarily coach to look good in the early games.

If you watch him at home games, he goes long stretches just standing on the sideline not saying a thing. That isn't an accident.

My point is, MU is probably better than they have looked, but Buzz isn't trying to look good. He's trying to teach.

They're head and shoulders the best right now. Dominant center, great ballhandler (Farrell), a great athlete (Olidape) and a bunch of really good shooters. Should breeze, but TC's teams have fared much better in November/December than March. We'll see.

That's a good point. He's never had this much talent before. He needs to push them hard, but he can't use the "us vs the world" approach.

He needs to build and motivate the kids so they peak in conference play heading into the tourny. It's something Cal has been very good at with all of his talented kids. They improve during the year, but they aren't beat up by the time they hit March.

I always thought TC would be good at IU. We'll see if he can be elite.

+1. Just compared Buzz's energy Monday night to the games in Maui. It's night and day. Also, Buzz has really grown as a coach. When he first got here, he relied way too much on his starters, especially in these buy games. Now, we see a much better minute distribution from his bench guys. Against, UMBC, every guy play more than 15 minutes. However, when he needs to shorten the rotation, (like against USC) he does so.

Actually, I think MU has performed better than my initial expectations. So far, I like what I see, especially if Jamil continues to play well.

Yes, he didn't wait until the end of the game, he ran right out there when Indiana first went up by 20.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
